Deploying a model for producing high quality chicken breeds

Participating in the model, households are supported with breeding chickens, provided with mixed feed, vaccines, and can participate in training courses, transfer of chicken care techniques, and biosafety farming measures.

It is expected that by 2025, the laying hens will reach 270 - 290 eggs/hen, the hatching rate will reach over 98%, producing over 500,000 hybrid chickens that meet standards to supply to households and poultry farms in and outside the province.

Chicken 18M1 is a new breed of chicken crossbred between rooster 18GA04 and hen LV2, with many outstanding advantages such as: good resistance, heat resistance, suitable for free-range and semi-free-range farming methods, chicken has delicious meat quality.

It is expected that by 2025, there will be over 500,000 hybrid chickens meeting standards provided to households and poultry farms in and outside the province.

It is known that in October 2024, the commercial 18M1 chicken breed was tested in Bao Thang district. The evaluation results showed that this chicken breed is suitable for local farming conditions, the chickens grow quickly, have a beautiful appearance, ensure meat quality standards, and are popular in the market.

In the livestock development plan, Lao Cai province orients the lowland areas to develop poultry breeds with high productivity and quality and gradually shift the scale of household farming to farm farming. With the implementation of the 18M1 chicken breeding model, it is expected to add a set of good quality poultry breeds, helping farmers increase their income, ensuring the goal of developing commodity farming in a sustainable direction.
