On September 20, the Department of Construction of Dong Nai province held a ceremony to announce and award prizes for the design competition for social housing and worker housing projects in the province.
Specifically, the design of a social housing project in Tan Hoa ward, Bien Hoa city, Dong Nai province, with an area of 2.8 hectares, 22 floors high, and a maximum population of 4,000 people, won the second prize, the Consortium of Lap Phuong Architecture Joint Stock Company (CUBIC) - Coteccons Construction Joint Stock Company and the Consortium of Duc Loi Investment and Development Joint Stock Company - Phuong Nam Light Construction Consulting Joint Stock Company, each prize is worth 150 million VND.
For the design of workers' housing in Trang Bom town (Trang Bom district) with an area of nearly 3.5 hectares, 6 floors high, maximum capacity of 3,800 people, the third prize went to KKV Construction Architecture Company Limited with a prize of 50 million VND.
Mr. Ho Van Ha, Director of the Department of Construction of Dong Nai province, said that in recent years, Dong Nai's industry has developed rapidly, creating hundreds of thousands of new jobs for workers. However, the rapid increase in the number of workers has created pressure on housing issues.
With a population of about 1.2 million, including more than 700,000 workers. Most workers have to live in boarding houses that lack security, lack safety against epidemics, fire prevention, etc. However, only nearly 3,500 social housing units have been completed to date, of which about 1,581 are for workers.
“The competition aims to select the optimal architectural design for typical worker housing and social housing projects that meet the requirements of construction planning, urban planning, functional architecture, economic efficiency, and environmental protection. The design model applied in worker housing and social housing development projects in the area will help shorten the time for completing procedures and reduce project investment costs,” Mr. Ha emphasized.
Previously, the People's Committee of Dong Nai province approved the plan to develop workers' housing and social housing until 2025. It is expected to build 10,000 workers' housing and social housing units with a total investment of VND 10,155 billion.
Specifically, Dong Nai province plans to allocate more than 700 hectares of land to invest in the construction of 66 worker housing and social housing projects. These projects do not include social housing land funds in commercial housing projects.
