Ahead of her new album, Trang Phap released a new MV about modern women with impressive melodies and images.
"Good girl" is the musical product that paves the way for the female singer's 10th anniversary album, which will be released this December. The song is said to clearly reflect Trang Phap's musical breath. The music has a melody that is typical of Trang Phap's RnB and frames full of metaphorical details.
Trang Phap said "Good girl" serves as the opening song, a "preface" to the story that will be told in the 10th anniversary album.
This is also the MV with the shortest filming time in Trang Phap's career. All preparation and filming took place in just 10 days, because the singer has a busy schedule and has to prepare for a new album at the same time.
"Every artist wants their brainchild to be widely accepted. However, for me, the opening song must express the story that needs to be told. Every artist should have their own musical style. It is like a "signature" for the audience to remember and identify themselves in a colorful market. I also believe that each song has its own mission and "Good Girl" will fulfill its "pioneer" role well" - Trang Phap expressed.
The MV's visuals were praised for their subtle visual effects through the combination of color blocks and the story embedded in the details. Viewers of the MV easily noticed that Trang Phap's character is not at all like the usual "good girl" standard.
The female lead always has different choices from the majority, is clumsy when taking care of her other half but constantly shines in her own way. The metaphor of "deviation" is also wrapped up in the frames of the picture frame, the tilted door paint, proving that Trang Phap's "good girl" character is truly living in a world where she sets her own standards.
Talking about the definition of "good girl", Trang Phap shared that she used to be someone who tried to follow other people's standards to be recognized as "good", "good", "good"... and was also disappointed many times because she could not find happiness within herself. However, through many experiences in life, she has changed.
"We will never be happy if we live by other people's standards and frames of reference. People often define a good girl as someone who dresses conservatively, takes care of her family, and is content with her lot. To me, a "good girl" comes in many forms, just as happiness comes in many colors.
Being content is fine, being independent is fine, dressing softly, modestly or edgy, sexy, having tattoos or not, as long as they feel it is appropriate and can be themselves. They can cook or not, be married or not, have a husband or children or be a single mother.
"A woman is most wonderful when she is always confident, positive, strives to improve herself and creates good values for herself and for life" - Trang Phap said.
Through the MV, Trang Phap hopes to convey the message: "We are still good girls, even if we do not follow the standards of the majority". She hopes that female audiences can be confident and steadfast in their choices.
