Practical models

One of the environmental protection models implemented in Tan Uyen City is the "Water Bottle - Say Hi" program initiated by Tan Uyen City Youth Union. The model encourages people to bring their own water bottles to buy water to get a 10% discount. The program has attracted 33 businesses in the city to participate, contributing to reducing disposable plastic waste. Ms. Vo Kim That, owner of a take-away coffee shop in Group 1, Quarter 4, Uyen Hung Ward, shared that she consumes 200-300 cups of coffee every day. Responding to this model, the number of plastic cups has decreased significantly. She also equipped sugarcane straws for easy decomposition after use.

According to Tan Uyen City Youth Union, the "Water Bottle - Say Hi" program was launched in 2024 and has received enthusiastic response from businesses. Through this program, the City Youth Union hopes to change people's consumption habits, helping people understand that a small action such as bringing a personal water bottle also contributes to significantly reducing the amount of plastic waste released into the environment. In the coming time, the City Youth Union will step up propaganda at larger establishments such as schools, companies, and offices to spread the green lifestyle to more people.

Meanwhile, the Women's Union of Tan Uyen City has implemented many practical activities, such as collecting scrap to raise charity funds, encouraging people to bring shopping bags to reduce plastic bags in daily life... These models not only help reduce waste but also create more support for those in difficult circumstances, contributing to spreading a green lifestyle in the community. In Bach Dang commune, people have actively implemented the model of "Bio-fermentation" from organic waste. Thanks to the guidance of local authorities and mass organizations, many households have taken advantage of kitchen waste to create fertilizer for plants. To date, the whole commune has over 1,720 households participating in this model.

Mr. Nguyen Hong Nguyen, Vice Chairman of Tan Uyen City People's Committee, said that the above models not only contribute to reducing waste released into the environment but also create good habits in the community. In order for the waste classification program at source to be more effective, the city plans to expand the scope of application, improve communication work and have stronger support policies. Waste classification is not only the responsibility of the government but also a practical action of each individual in environmental protection. With the joint efforts of all levels, sectors, organizations and the community, Tan Uyen City is gradually becoming a green, clean and livable city.

Join hands and contribute

The Law on Environmental Protection 2020 stipulates that from January 1, 2025, the classification of household waste at source will be implemented synchronously nationwide. To effectively implement this regulation, Tan Uyen City has been promoting propaganda, organizing training courses and replicating effective models. The city also calls for the participation of the business community in sponsoring and supporting environmental protection activities.

Uyen Hung Ward is one of the pioneering localities in environmental protection work in Tan Uyen City. Uyen Hung Ward leaders said that they have directed departments and organizations to organize many propaganda sessions, mobilizing people to classify waste at source; at the same time, they have established inspection and supervision teams to guide, remind and handle violations. The goal is to create changes from awareness to action of each household. For departments and units, typically the City Department of Education and Training, this unit has integrated waste classification content into the curriculum, organized extracurricular activities to raise awareness for students from an early age...

Recently, the People's Committee of Tan Uyen City held a launching ceremony for the implementation of domestic solid waste classification at source, marking an important first step in the synchronous implementation of environmental protection solutions. Mr. Nguyen Hong Nguyen emphasized that in implementing the Law on Environmental Protection in 2020, the city identified waste classification at source as an important task, requiring the cooperation of the entire political system and the entire people. The city will continue to promote propaganda, inspection, supervision and have incentive policies to ensure the most effective implementation of the Law on Environmental Protection.
