The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has just sent a document to the Departments of Education and Training of districts, Thu Duc City and principals of general education institutions with many levels and types of private education (under the Department) about reporting and reviewing the implementation of tuition support for private primary school students in areas without enough public schools in the 2023-2024 school year.

The 2023-2024 school year is the first year to implement tuition support for private primary school students in areas without enough public primary schools in accordance with Resolution No. 05/2023 of the City People's Council. The end of the school year is the time to implement one-time support, according to the above support level based on the actual number of months of study (not exceeding nine months).

The Department requires the Department of Education and Training to continue receiving applications for tuition support for private primary school students in areas without enough public primary schools for the 2023-2024 school year until June 28, 2024.

The Department notes to the Department of Education and Training about confirming information about students studying at educational institutions. If the school has sufficient decisions on establishment, decisions on permission for educational activities, decisions on recognition of principals issued by competent authorities, then the principals of primary education institutions and multi-level general education institutions, private types, have sufficient legal basis to confirm that students are studying at the school.

The Department also requires general education institutions with many levels of education, private types to be responsible for implementing, disseminating, completing procedures and making payments to the correct subjects receiving tuition support, and at the same time be responsible for making settlement records including the list of students receiving tuition support to the Department of Education and Training where the students reside according to regulations.

Previously, the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee issued a decision to recognize the list of areas that do not have enough public primary schools in Ho Chi Minh City for the 2023-2024 school year. In total, the city has 147 wards, communes, and towns identified as not having enough public primary schools.

Private primary school students in these areas will receive tuition support in two groups, as stipulated in Resolution No. 16/2022 of the City People's Council.

Group 1 includes students studying at schools in Thu Duc City and districts: 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 10, 11, 12, Binh Thanh, Phu Nhuan, Go Vap, Tan Binh, Tan Phu, Binh Tan. Each student is supported with 300,000 VND/person/month.

Students studying at schools in Binh Chanh, Hoc Mon, Cu Chi, Nha Be and Can Gio districts belong to group 2 and will receive support of VND100,000/person/month.
