In a notice sent to parents, a representative of Dong Khoi Secondary School (District 1) said that scammers impersonated the school's principal and made calls to parents.

The subjects asked parents to provide personal information via strange links to confirm the level 2 identification code for students, in order to serve enrollment. As a result, parents may lose control of their bank accounts and e-wallets, leading to financial losses.

The school recommends that all information related to admissions will be announced through the school's official channels such as the website, messages from homeroom teachers or admissions officers.

The school absolutely does not ask parents to provide personal information via calls or links of unknown origin. Therefore, the school requires parents to be vigilant, not to provide personal information, bank accounts or perform any operations following instructions from unclear calls or messages, to avoid being scammed.

Similarly, many schools in District 4 also issued this warning to parents to raise awareness.

In the 2025-2026 school year, Ho Chi Minh City will enroll students in the first grades of kindergarten, grade 1, and grade 6 through "Current residence" based on information on parents' VNeID, combined with school allocation according to GIS maps (calculating students' travel distance, not allocated according to ward administrative boundaries).

The Director of the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City has directed admission agencies not to require people to submit any additional documents when registering their children for grade 1 and grade 6, if their current residence information and personal data on the VNeID application are correct.

In case the current residence information and personal data on the VNeID application are not accurate, the units and educational institutions where the student is in his/her final year of high school will compile a list and send it to the People's Committee of the ward/commune/town in the area.

Previously, in early March, the Department of Education and Training of Ho Chi Minh City issued a warning to parents about fraudulent tricks related to tuition refunds, ahead of the tuition exemption policy for students from kindergarten to high school in Ho Chi Minh City from the 2025-2026 school year.
