This morning (July 4), nearly 4,800 5th grade students officially took the entrance exam to 6th grade at Tran Dai Nghia Specialized School.
Candidates will participate in a survey of abilities such as: language (English, Vietnamese - writing); mathematics and logical thinking; natural sciences, social sciences (history - geography); common sense of life to enter grade 6 of Tran Dai Nghia Specialized School.
The form of the competency survey includes multiple choice and essay parts.
Multiple choice section: Candidates take a 20-question multiple choice test in English about their understanding of natural sciences, social sciences and common sense in life within 30 minutes.
Essay section, candidates will have 60 minutes to complete, including: English proficiency test: listening comprehension, reading comprehension, writing; candidates will take the test in English. Math and logical thinking ability test, reading comprehension and writing ability test; candidates will take the test in Vietnamese.
All competency assessment sections are 90 minutes long.
Students will do the test in 90 minutes.
The survey results will be announced on July 11. From July 12 to July 14, students will submit their admission applications. After 4:00 p.m. on July 14, if students do not submit their applications, the school will remove their names from the admission list.
Previously, information from Tran Dai Nghia Specialized School said that the number of applications for the 6th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year was nearly 4,800. Meanwhile, this school year, the school only recruited 525 6th graders. Thus, the ratio of admission to 6th grade at this school this year is 1 to 9. This is the highest competition ratio in many years.
In the 2023-2024 school year, in addition to Tran Dai Nghia Specialized School, Tran Quoc Toan 1 Secondary School (Thu Duc City) is the second school in Ho Chi Minh City to conduct a capacity assessment test to enroll students in grade 6. The two schools will conduct the same test and at the same time.
