On October 11, President Vladimir Putin arrived in the capital Ashgabat of Turkmenistan, where he participated in an international forum called "Connecting Times and Civilizations - The Foundation of Peace and Development".
In his opening speech at the forum, President Putin reiterated that he wants to build "a new world order" with Russia's friends and partners, according to a video released by the Kremlin.
Leaders of more than 10 countries attended the forum, as well as heads of international organizations, including the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO), the Organization of Turkic States, the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
According to the plan, the Presidents of Armenia, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Mongolia, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan and the Speaker of the Turkish Parliament will speak at the forum.
On the sidelines of the forum, President Putin is expected to meet with his Iranian counterpart Masoud Pezeshkian. The Kremlin said that President Putin will discuss bilateral issues and especially the alarmingly escalating situation in the Middle East with his counterpart Pezeshkian during this meeting.
Russian Presidential Assistant Yury Ushakov also added that Russia may have other bilateral contacts on the sidelines of the forum.
