On the evening of December 20, in Hanoi, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired an online conference with Ambassadors/Heads of Vietnamese representative agencies abroad to review economic diplomacy work in 2024 and focus on 2025 to create momentum for growth.
Attending the conference were Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son; Ministers, Heads of ministerial-level agencies, Government agencies; leaders of ministries, branches, and central agencies; Chairmen of People's Committees, leaders of provinces and centrally-run cities; leaders of business associations, industries, and Vietnamese representative agencies abroad.

In 2024, economic diplomacy will be promoted in a systematic, drastic and effective manner. In nearly 60 foreign affairs activities of key leaders, economic content has become the focus, bringing specific and substantive results. Our country's foreign relations continue to be expanded, upgraded and upgraded; there were 21 visits to countries and participation in multilateral conferences, welcoming 25 delegations of foreign leaders to visit Vietnam, conducting 11 phone calls/online talks, attending 1 multilateral conference online and chairing 1 multilateral conference in Hanoi.
Through high-level and all-level exchanges, Vietnam has promoted and renewed traditional growth drivers by enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, tourism, and labor with major markets; proactively and strongly promoted international cooperation in science - technology and innovation, digital economy, and green economy in all high-level and all-level foreign affairs activities, contributing to supporting the process of economic transformation and restructuring, creating driving forces for breakthrough growth.

During the year, Vietnamese representative agencies abroad carried out more than 700 economic diplomacy activities to promote trade, investment, and tourism; supported localities in promoting, introducing, connecting, and establishing relationships with foreign partners with more than 400 trade and investment promotion activities...
However, economic diplomacy still has limitations such as: not taking full and effective advantage of upgrading and upgrading relations with partners; economic cooperation with some strategic areas is not commensurate with the cooperation framework; implementation of commitments and agreements is sometimes and in some places slow; research, forecasting and consulting work in some cases is not proactive and does not keep up with developments...
Concluding the conference, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh welcomed the positive results in economic diplomacy, a bright spot in foreign affairs, making an important contribution to the country's socio-economic development achievements in 2024.

The Prime Minister requested that in the coming time, economic diplomacy must focus on promoting the signing of legal frameworks such as FTAs, IPAs, CEPAs, etc.; assessing the potential differences, outstanding opportunities, and competitive advantages of our country and its partners to identify issues that can be cooperated, supplemented, and competed with each other; renewing traditional growth drivers such as exports, investment, and consumption; promoting new growth drivers such as green economy, digital economy, circular economy, knowledge economy, sharing economy, and night economy; focusing on building brands for Vietnamese products and services; promoting more substantial and effective trade and investment; developing sustainable competitive markets; diversifying products, diversifying markets, and diversifying supply chains; continuing to innovate visa policies to create more favorable conditions for attracting investment and tourism; promoting connections between Vietnamese enterprises and enterprises of other countries, etc.
