General Secretary and President To Lam arrives in Paris, beginning visit to France

A high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by General Secretary and President To Lam arrived in France, starting activities from October 4 with many important contents.

On the evening of October 3 (French time, or early morning of October 4 Vietnam time), after leaving Ireland, the plane carrying General Secretary and President To Lam and the high-ranking delegation landed at Orly airport in France.

VNA described many overseas Vietnamese in France, along with local officials, ambassadors, and Vietnamese diplomatic staff in France, as having come to welcome the General Secretary and President. Two rows of honor guards stood at attention to welcome the Vietnamese leader.

During his four-day stay in France, the head of the Party and State will attend the 19th Francophone Summit, then begin an official visit to the country at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.

The 19th Francophone Summit will be held at two iconic French landmarks: the International French Language Center at Villers-Cotterêts Castle and the Grand Palais in Paris.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Creativity, Innovation and Entrepreneurship in French”. This will be an opportunity for heads of state and governments of member countries to exchange, discuss and solve major challenges to the development and innovation process. Most of the content of the meetings will focus on this issue, both the challenges and opportunities of creativity, innovation, especially artificial intelligence.

Vietnamese Ambassador to France Dinh Toan Thang shared that over the past 30 years, senior Vietnamese leaders have always attended Francophone Summits, demonstrating Vietnam's importance in cooperation with the International Organization of La Francophonie (OIF) and its members.

"The first time Vietnam's highest-ranking leader attended the conference is a new milestone, affirming Vietnam's highest-level commitment to the development of the Francophone community.

At the same time, it demonstrates Vietnam's efforts in enhancing the image and presence of the Francophone community in the Asia-Pacific region, showing that Vietnam is ready to be a bridge to promote the relationship of the Francophone community with the region, thereby raising both the national position and the community's position in the international arena," Mr. Dinh Toan Thang affirmed.

Within the framework of the 19th Francophone Summit, General Secretary and President To Lam is expected to deliver an important speech, along with bilateral meetings with the Secretary General of the Francophone and heads of state of the Francophone member states. He will also have other activities with businesses within the framework of the conference.

During his official visit to France, General Secretary and President To Lam will hold talks with French President Emmanuel Macron after a grand welcoming ceremony at the Invalides Palace.

The official welcoming ceremony for General Secretary and President To Lam will be held by the French State according to solemn national protocol, thereby demonstrating France's special respect for the head of the Party and State of Vietnam.

He is also expected to meet with other senior leaders of France and UNESCO; and meet many friends, partners, and the overseas Vietnamese community in France.

The most meaningful thing about the General Secretary and President's visit to France this time is the visit to the stops of President Ho Chi Minh on his arduous journey to find a way to save the country.
