On the afternoon of September 12, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City - Ho Chi Minh City Relief Mobilization Committee held a launching ceremony to support people in the northern provinces affected by storm No. 3. Notably, during his visit and work in Ho Chi Minh City, General Secretary and President of Laos Thongloun Sisoulith, his wife Naly Sisoulith and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos Saleumxay Kommasith attended the launching ceremony.
Also attending were former President Nguyen Minh Triet; Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen; Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central External Relations Commission Le Hoai Trung; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Phan Van Mai; Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Secretary of the Party Delegation, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Nguyen Phuoc Loc; along with leaders of departments, branches, districts and many individuals, units, businesses and people of Ho Chi Minh City.
At the ceremony, Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Phuoc Loc, on behalf of the city's leaders, Party Committee, government and people, sent his deepest condolences to the families whose relatives were lost or injured due to the recent natural disasters in the northern provinces.
Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc also sent his gratitude, sympathy and encouragement to the forces, especially the officers and soldiers of the armed forces; and at the same time sent his kind regards and sympathy to the Party Committee, the Government, the Vietnam Fatherland Front and all the people of the provinces affected by the storm and flood.
The Deputy Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee said that initially, Ho Chi Minh City has registered and transferred to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front 120 billion VND and directly supported the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the provinces of Ha Giang, Lao Cai, Tuyen Quang, Bac Can, Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen, Phu Tho, Thai Binh, Hai Duong, Hung Yen each province 10 billion VND so that the Vietnam Fatherland Front in the provinces can deploy activities to respond to, prevent and help people affected by recent natural disasters.
During the launching ceremony, 91 businesses, units and individuals registered to contribute VND58 billion 235 million, of which VND6 billion 290 million was goods.
With the tradition and spirit of Ho Chi Minh City always being with the whole country, for the whole country, responding to the call of the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee, the Standing Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the City calls on all agencies, organizations, business communities, and people of all walks of life in the city to share and help spiritually and materially, towards our beloved Northern compatriots.
The support is carried out with the highest spirit, fastest and most timely to the families who suffered loss of life and property caused by natural disasters, helping the people in the North to soon stabilize their lives and restore production.
In recent days, storm No. 3 has devastated many provinces in the North of our country. Up to now, the total estimated damage to people's and state's assets is tens of thousands of billions of VND.
