Honoring "Farmer Scientists" in 2024

On the morning of October 3, in Hanoi, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Farmers' Union coordinated with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations to organize the 5th "Farmer Scientists" honoring program and awarding prizes for the 10th "Farmer Technical Innovation" Contest - 2024.

Attending the event were comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department; comrades of the Party Central Committee: Luong Quoc Doan, President of the Vietnam Farmers' Union; Huynh Thanh Dat, Minister of Science and Technology; Pham Tat Thang, Deputy Head of the Central Mass Mobilization Commission; representatives of leaders of departments, ministries, branches, and Farmers' Unions in localities across the country.

Speaking at the program, comrade Luong Quoc Doan affirmed: over the years, the Program to honor "Farmer's Scientists" and the "Farmer's Technical Innovation" Contest have sparked a movement of research, exploration, testing, innovation, improvement, and application of scientific and technological models in agricultural production, developing rural economy in accordance with reality, exploiting the potential and strengths of agriculture in each locality.

Many research projects, creative solutions, and technological products of scientists have been widely applied, bringing many benefits to "three rural areas": agriculture, rural areas, and farmers. Many products researched and created by farmers to improve production processes, tools, equipment, etc. have contributed to accelerating the process of shifting agricultural production, improving productivity, quality, and production efficiency, showing that the creativity of Vietnamese scientists and farmers is very rich and diverse.

Warmly praising 56 "Farmer Scientists" and 24 farmers who received the award of the "Technical Innovation for Farmers" Contest in 2024, the Chairman of the Vietnam Farmers' Union emphasized: honoring and recognizing the creative achievements, applications, and transfers of the awardees is not the end of a creative journey, but must become the foundation for new beginnings and new plans of each scientist and creative farmer. From here, continue to spread confidence, pride and positive inspiration to thousands, millions of other farmer members and scientists across the country.

According to statistics, among the 56 “Farmer Scientists” in 2024, there are 37 Professors, Associate Professors, Doctors, Masters; 19 people have university degrees and other qualifications. In this honoring of “Farmer Scientists”, Mr. Vo Van Ut (born in 1961, member of the Farmers' Association of Long An province) is noteworthy with typical solutions and inventions such as “Corn seeding machine”, “Sesame sowing tool”, “Peanut thresher”.
