Therefore, the work of the Youth Union and the youth movement in schools need to be regularly focused on education and companionship to create quality resources, effectively contributing to the cause of national construction and development.
According to reports from the Central Committee of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, in the 2023-2024 school year, the work of innovating the content and methods of education of the Union in the school sector has become increasingly more suitable for students, creating a widespread effect in society.
The Youth Union chapters at all levels of the school sector have taken advantage of the strengths of the internet, social networks and digital platforms to implement many suitable activities; at the same time, they have approached and researched cultural phenomena and new trends popular among young people to have opinions and orientations, encourage healthy content, and form positive trends among students.
The number of activities to support students, typically career counseling and guidance days, is being implemented more diversely by Youth Unions at all levels.
The work of caring for the spiritual life of union members and young people at school is given attention and is regularly organized with many meaningful and practical activities.
The coordination between the Youth Union and the education and training, labor, war invalids and social affairs sectors was carried out in a unified, systematic manner, closely following the proposed program. The number of student titles registered for the training movements "5 Good Students", "3 Good Students", "3 Training Students" at all levels increased.
Statistics show that last school year, school Youth Union organizations across the country completed and exceeded 9/11 set targets.
Notably, the number of scientific research projects of students supported for international publication reached 227%; the number of innovative start-up projects of students supported and realized by Student Associations at all levels reached 184%; the number of ideas and initiatives of union members and youth supported and realized by the Youth Union reached nearly 180%.
However, it is necessary to recognize that: There are still some important indicators related to the real life and study and training of union members and youth in the school sector that have not been completed, such as: mobilizing scholarships to support students to access preferential credit sources (72%); the ratio of union members to the total number of youth in the school sector (61.7%); the number of new party members recruited from outstanding union members in schools (17.93%).
At the National Conference of School Union Cadres for the 2023-2024 school year organized by the Central Youth Union in mid-July, a number of delegates of Youth Union and Student Association cadres at the provincial and municipal levels said that the main cause of the above situation comes from the fact that grasping the situation and thoughts related to the life and study of students at some units is not timely and not close to reality.
The contents of education work for union members, students and pupils in vocational education institutions do not have many specific solutions to create breakthroughs.
In particular, although party development work in schools has achieved certain results, it is not commensurate with the number of union members and youth in schools.
In addition, the implementation of solutions to increase the quantity and quality of outstanding union members introduced to the Party and admitting outstanding union members to the Party in some units is still limited.
According to Secretary of the Central Youth Union and President of the Vietnam Student Association Nguyen Minh Triet, in order to effectively promote the youth, knowledge, and creativity of union members and young people in the school area, the Youth Union and Student Association at all levels need to focus on implementing six key solutions in the coming time, closely linked to the spirit of "5 pioneers".
Solutions include:
- Affirming the role of socialist schools for youth;
- Closely grasp public opinion, thoughts, feelings and aspirations of young people;
- Compete to undertake and implement youth tasks and projects, and make achievements to celebrate major holidays and important events of the country;
- Be proactive, promote the role of setting an example, actively promote the three breakthrough tasks of the entire Youth Union for the 2022-2027 term;
- Coordinate with Student Associations at the same level to disseminate and study the Resolution of the 11th National Congress of Vietnam Student Association;
- Improve the quality of the Youth Union organization, members, branch activities, and develop members in non-public vocational training institutions.
