Last week, Samsung began rolling out the One UI 7 update, based on Android 15, to the Galaxy S24 series in South Korea, Europe, and the US. This is the result of months of testing with six beta versions released earlier. During the lengthy testing process, users expect the official version to be free of serious bugs.
However, the reality did not go as expected when Samsung was forced to pause the global rollout of One UI 7 after discovering a major bug in the stable release.
Samsung pulled the One UI 7 update for the Galaxy S24 from its servers this weekend. According to a report from popular leaker IceUniverse, the South Korean manufacturer discovered a serious bug in the One UI 7 software when it was rolled out in its home market.
As a result, the company was forced to temporarily halt the rollout of this update, and at the same time delay the global release of One UI 7. Currently, the details of the bug have not been announced, but its severity has forced Samsung to pause the long-delayed update.
Not only the Galaxy S24 series, Samsung has also paused the release of Android 15 for the two foldable devices Galaxy Z Fold6 and Galaxy Z Flip6 in Korea as well as the European market.
Given the amount of time it took Samsung to finalize Android 15 for its premium devices, users can only hope that engineers will quickly fix the issues to continue the rollout roadmap without further delays.
According to the plan announced by Samsung earlier, the One UI 7 update with integrated Galaxy AI technology is expected to be officially released to users in Vietnam on April 14. However, many users using the Galaxy S24 series, Z Fold6 and Z Flip6 are still reporting that they have not received the update as announced.
The Galaxy S23, Galaxy Z Fold5, and Galaxy Z Flip5 devices are expected to start receiving the stable One UI 7 update this week. However, with the rollout paused on premium Galaxy models launched from 2024, it's likely that the Android 15 update won't be available on older smartphones.
This delay is further frustrating for Galaxy users, who have been waiting more than 6 months to experience Android 15 on their devices. In case Galaxy S24, Z Fold6, or Z Flip6 users have installed the stable version of One UI 7, Samsung said that it will release the update as soon as the issue is resolved.
