Implementing the National Target Program on Sustainable Poverty Reduction for the 2021-2025 period, Tam Nong district has mobilized the participation of the entire political system, focusing resources, especially preferential credit capital. The district's Social Policy Bank (SPB) plays a companion role, helping people to access and effectively use loans.
The family of Ms. Le Thi Tin, in Zone 8, Dan Quyen Commune, has 4 members. Her husband and daughter-in-law have passed away due to serious illness. Her son is the main breadwinner in the family. For many years, they have been listed as poor due to lack of capital and livelihood. It seemed that poverty would not end, but in the past few years, the district's Social Policy Bank has created favorable conditions for her family to borrow money in many installments to invest in livestock farming. By 2020, her family had escaped poverty.
Ms. Tin said: “The low-interest social security fund has really supported my family a lot, creating motivation for the family to invest in livestock development . I bought 4 cows, after a period of raising them, the herd developed and reproduced well. Thanks to that, the family's income is stable, enough to cover living expenses and send the children to school.”

Not only Mrs. Tin’s family, Ms. Nguyen Thi Vu Thu’s family in Zone 2, Dan Quyen Commune has also been “supported” by social credit capital, helping her family’s life become more stable. To expand the scale and buy machinery and equipment for selling groceries, Ms. Thu borrowed 100 million VND from the “Employment Solution” program of the district’s Social Policy Bank. Up to now, her store is known by many customers and has a good income.
Tho Van Commune is famous for its lacquer tree planting to get resin, reducing poverty. Taking us to visit the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Doan in Zone 2, the Chairman of the Commune Farmers' Association shared that Ms. Doan's family had been among the commune's poor households for many years. In 2020, Ms. Doan borrowed capital from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies to buy 2,000 lacquer trees to grow resin on an area of 1 hectare. After deducting expenses, she earns nearly 200 million VND each year. By 2023, her family escaped poverty and built a spacious house.
After borrowing capital from the People's Credit Fund for investment, the store of Ms. Nguyen Thi Vu Thu, Zone 2, Dan Quyen Commune is known by many customers and has good income.
Comrade Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nhung - Deputy Director of the District Social Policy Bank said: In recent years, with outstanding incentives, most policy households in the district have been facilitated to borrow preferential loans. As of September 25, the total outstanding credit balance of social policy capital in the district reached 417,457 billion VND, with nearly 10,278 households borrowing, especially the use of loans for the right purposes, effectively, contributing positively to reducing the poverty rate to 2.33%. In the coming time, the District Social Policy Bank will continue to closely follow the socio-economic development goals in the locality, implementing preferential credit programs in a timely manner, to the right beneficiaries, in accordance with policies, and in accordance with business processes".
The family of Mrs. Nguyen Thi Doan, Zone 2, Tho Van Commune, has good economic development thanks to growing lacquer trees for resin.
It can be seen that the lending programs of the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies have been and are being effective. Policy credit has contributed to helping the poor and policy beneficiaries to have conditions to become self-reliant; helping borrowers use capital effectively, contributing to improving and enhancing the quality of life, narrowing the gap between rich and poor.
