On the afternoon of November 8, a source confirmed to Dan Tri newspaper reporters that authorities had found a Yak-130 military aircraft that had crashed near a ranger station at Yok Don National Park (Krong Na commune, Buon Don district, Dak Lak).
Accordingly, Viettel's forces deployed a search using specialized flycams. After checking many areas, this unit found the plane.
The location where the plane crashed was discovered was in sub-area 428, in Yok Don National Park (Krong Na commune, Buon Don district, Dak Lak province), about 7km from Drang Phoc village.
This is a densely wooded area, only about 600m from the road, near the ranger post of ranger station No. 9, in the forest area of Yok Don National Park, Buon Don district, Dak Lak province.
In a quick exchange with the press, a leader of the Dak Lak Provincial Military Command said the plane was found at around 2:00 p.m. on November 8.
After the drone determined the location, the forces lined up in the forest to search and found the wreckage of the Yak-130.
At the scene, the plane was recorded as broken, cracked, and damaged in many parts.
Regarding the next plan, the leader of the Dak Lak Provincial Military Command said that the units will report and ask for instructions from the Ministry of National Defense for handling.
Previously, according to a source from the Dak Lak Provincial Border Guard Command, the unit directed border posts in the border area of Buon Don district to coordinate with the Dak Lak Provincial Military Command, the Air Force Officer School, Air Force Regiment 940, along with forest rangers, people, and organizations to search for the crashed Yak-130 training aircraft.
Dak Lak Provincial Border Guard Command mobilized over 10 cars and many other vehicles to support and serve the search.
A leader of Dak Lak Forest Protection Department confirmed that Ea Sup District Forest Protection Station and Buon Don Forest Protection Station coordinated and provided guidance for military forces to search for the plane.
Yok Don National Park also sent dozens of officers to join the search.
The search area is rugged and mountainous, with many rivers and streams, making travel difficult. Authorities mobilized more boats and canoes from local people to cross the river.
Buon Drang Phoc is the only village in Dak Lak province located in the core zone of Yok Don National Park. Since noon on November 6, people in Buon Drang Phoc, Krong Na commune, Buon Don district heard a loud explosion on the other side of the Serepok river.
Yok Don National Park has an area of over 115,000 hectares, making it the second largest special-use forest in the country.
On November 6, Yak-130 aircraft (serial number 210 D) of Air Force Regiment 940, Air Force Officer School, Air Defense - Air Force Service organized a training flight at Phu Cat airport (Binh Dinh).
The plane took off at 9:55. At 10:38, when finishing the return flight to land, the pilot reported that the plane's landing gear could not be released, and at the same time took measures to handle the emergency landing gear release situation, but still failed.
The pilot reported to the flight commander and was allowed to parachute. The two pilots parachuted at 10:51 at the TB2 Shooting Range, Tay Son District (Binh Dinh).
In the early morning of November 7, Colonel Nguyen Van Son, Commander of Air Force Regiment 940, and Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hong Quan, Flight Commander of Air Force Regiment 940, the pilots of the Yak-130 aircraft, were found by authorities and brought safely out of the forest.
