TikTok Shop 'pours' 500 million USD to upgrade sales moderation

To enhance the trusted shopping experience for users, TikTok Shop has invested more than 500 million USD with the goal of upgrading sales moderation processes.


Removed 124,000 restricted or prohibited products

In the context of increasing year-end shopping demand, TikTok Shop has invested in the platform through technology tools, built a team of specialized staff and continuously upgraded service quality to bring a safe and reliable e-commerce experience to consumers, brand partners and sellers.

Based on specialized policies for affiliate marketing content creators and sellers, TikTok Shop has been enforcing strict policies for sellers and products.

Speaking to the Industry and Trade Newspaper, a representative of TikTok Shop said that products circulated on the platform must meet standards of quality, origin and product description. Sellers must provide complete information according to the law and the platform's requirements, comply with operating policies and be responsible for products and services.

"Content creators need to ensure transparent and honest information and advertisements are in accordance with community principles and relevant legal regulations," said a representative of TikTok Shop.

Also according to a representative of TikTok Shop, with a team of 7,500 dedicated global staff, TikTok Shop strives to protect consumers, sellers and brands from counterfeit goods, fake goods and commercial fraud.

As a result, in the first half of 2024, TikTok Shop rejected 20.4 million substandard products and removed 124,000 restricted or prohibited products. At the same time, TikTok Shop also disabled more than 2 million seller accounts and removed commerce features from more than 500,000 content creators who violated policies.

TikTok Shop always strives to handle products that do not comply with regulations, false or inaccurate information. The platform encourages users to report violations to build a safe and transparent shopping community together, affirming its commitment to providing a safe shopping experience that puts the interests of users first.

In Vietnam, TikTok Shop is implementing many practical activities to enhance online shopping safety, especially during the peak season at the end of the year.

For example, in October 2024, TikTok cooperated with the Department of Information Security (Ministry of Information and Communications) to promote activities to prevent and combat fraud in cyberspace. In an effort to protect consumers, TikTok Shop also implemented communication activities to educate users about forms of fraud related to e-commerce.

In addition to safety efforts, TikTok Shop is also constantly upgrading its delivery and after-sales services with the goal of creating a seamless and convenient shopping experience for Vietnamese consumers during the peak year-end shopping season.

Specifically, TikTok Shop has enhanced delivery services, including free shipping and launched 24-hour Express Delivery service, to provide a convenient and reliable shopping experience.

At the same time, after-sales programs such as free returns are also emphasized, helping consumers feel more secure when shopping.

Ms. Nguyen Ngo - Marketing Manager of TikTok Shop in Vietnam - affirmed: "TikTok Shop is committed to bringing a trustworthy and joyful shopping experience to users during the Tet shopping season. In addition to the attractive promotions and entertaining content that TikTok Shop's Tet campaign called Happy Tet Shopping brings, with strict policies and enforcement measures, we hope to be able to enhance consumer confidence in e-commerce in general, accompanying users to create a complete Tet season".

Regarding intellectual property protection, the platform has worked closely with the authorities to implement appropriate intellectual property protection measures. From July 2023 to June 2024, TikTok Shop blocked more than 5 million products with potential intellectual property infringement risks, removed 497,026 products and 800,000 infringing videos/livestreams.
