On February 20, social media spread information that "a student at a university in Thu Dau Mot City, Binh Duong Province was arrested by fake police in a blue-plate car who entered the school and read the arrest warrant."
Currently, units of Binh Duong Provincial Police have begun to verify and work with the reporter, student Ch. (third year student at a university in Thu Dau Mot City).
Police went directly to the school where the incident is said to have occurred to verify.
Speaking to Tuoi Tre Online , a representative of the university confirmed that students had reported the incident and the police had come to verify. However, initial investigations determined that there was no basis for "a group of people pretending to be police officers driving a blue-plate car into the school."
The school also worked with student Ch. to clarify the information. The student explained that he was called by a group of people pretending to be him with the intention of defrauding him, but only over the phone.
The detail "a group of people in police uniforms driving a blue-plate car into the school to read the arrest warrant" is not there, because the student added this detail "to keep everyone alert".
At noon on February 20, speaking with Tuoi Tre Online , a leader of Binh Duong Provincial Police said he was directing relevant units to quickly clarify and handle the above incident.
