Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Son - Principal of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education - said that in 2025, the school will continue to use the admission method combining exam scores with high school academic scores similar to 2024.
Only need to take 1 subject for admission
Thus, continuing to use the combined results of 3 years of high school transcripts for admission is a change from the school's previous plan of not using transcripts in admission.
To apply for the combined admission method, candidates need to choose and take one main subject in the specialized competency assessment exam organized by the school. The remaining two subjects will use the average score of 6 semesters in 3 years of grades 10, 11 and 12.
However, the score ratio between the main subject and the other two subjects may change in the direction of increasing the weight of the main subject.
The 2025 specialized assessment exam includes 3 exam sessions in April, May and July, with 2 exam locations in Ho Chi Minh City and 6 exam locations in Long An, Gia Lai, Can Tho, Hue, Da Nang and Dak Lak.
The exam is organized in 6 subjects: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, literature and English. Candidates can choose one or more subjects to apply for admission to the majors at Ho Chi Minh City University of Education and the partner universities of this exam.
"If in 2024 the school has 31 majors for admission using this method, it is expected that in 2025 it will apply a number of additional majors: history-geography pedagogy, geography pedagogy, geography, tourism, international studies to expand admission opportunities for candidates," Mr. Son added.
Up to now, many major universities accept the results of the specialized exam organized by Ho Chi Minh City University of Education for university admission in 2025.
The schools include: Hanoi National University of Education, Hanoi National University of Education 2, Hue University of Education, Danang University of Education, Ho Chi Minh City University of Industry and Trade, Nguyen Tat Thanh University.
By organizing 3 exams, the school expects to have more than 30,000 candidates participating (3 times more than in 2024).

In addition to the adjusted admission method, the specialized assessment exam of Ho Chi Minh City University of Education this year also has changes, closely following the 2018 general education program.
Accordingly, the 2025 exam is designed with many improvements in question structure and knowledge content in the spirit of closely following the 2018 general education program, ensuring a comprehensive assessment of candidates' abilities.
Of which, the knowledge content of the grade 12 program accounts for 70-80%, the rest is the knowledge content of the grade 10 and 11 programs.
In particular, the English proficiency test will be based on the format of a proficiency test from level 3 to level 5 according to the 6-level foreign language proficiency framework for Vietnam.
Prof. Dr. Huynh Van Son added that the school has been researching the 2018 general education program for many years, with the participation of program experts, editors-in-chief, program editors as well as textbooks and many general education experts, especially evaluation experts.
According to Mr. Son, the preparations and adjustments to the specialized competency assessment exam ensure the school's orientation, as well as adapt to the high school graduation exam from 2025, which is the investment and dedication of the school with the motto of creating maximum conditions for students to study the 2018 general education program and reduce exam pressure in the spirit of humanity and respect...
"When registering, candidates should also choose the appropriate exam subjects, time and location. Candidates can register for multiple exams to increase their chances of admission, but they also need to maintain their health and avoid creating too much pressure during the review process. This is the secret to ensuring their performance and exam scores," Mr. Son advised.
