The Government is very interested in speeding up the progress of the Nhon - Hanoi railway line, not continuing to extend it because it will increase capital and reduce investment efficiency, the Prime Minister directed.
Inspecting the construction site of the Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station railway line on the morning of February 12, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh listened to foreign experts' assessments of the quality of Vietnamese engineers and workers as well as measures to speed up the project's progress.
Vietnam does not have much experience in metro projects, so it has to hire foreign consultants and contractors. Therefore, the Prime Minister hopes that foreign parties will transfer technology, train and improve the quality of human resources.
The Prime Minister requested consultants, design contractors, and construction contractors to make efforts, mobilize human resources, and machinery to work through Tet with the spirit of "overcoming the sun and rain, eating and sleeping quickly, and only discussing work and not backing down". The Government, Hanoi, and relevant agencies will continue to remove obstacles to promote the project.
Today, at the project site, there are 40 foreign experts, 100 consultants, supervisors and 800 workers. Visiting the officials and workers, the Prime Minister hopes that they will do better and faster to make up for the progress due to Covid-19, ensuring safety above all.

The Nhon - Hanoi Railway Station project started in 2009 and was scheduled to be completed in 2015, but after four delays, the new completion date for the entire route is expected to be 2027.
The 12.5 km route, with 8 elevated stations and 4 underground stations, passes through 6 districts, including Bac Tu Liem, Nam Tu Liem, Cau Giay, Dong Da, Hoan Kiem and Ba Dinh. The Hanoi Urban Railway Project Management Board said the project has achieved 77% overall progress, with the Nhon - Kim Ma elevated section reaching 99.7%, expected to be operational in June.
With the underground section currently at 40% progress, the contractor is focusing on speeding up construction to start the tunnel boring machine in the second quarter. The S12 underground station is the deepest with a three-story design, 35 meters below the road surface. The remaining underground stations are 29 meters deep, with two stories. If the S12 station is delayed, the entire project will be delayed.

The same morning, the Prime Minister visited environmental workers working on Dien Bien Phu and Hoang Dieu streets, thanking them for sacrificing their Tet holidays to keep the capital green, clean and beautiful. "If we are grateful to the workers who have kept the environment green, clean and beautiful, then each person needs to throw away trash in the right place and on time, helping to reduce the hardships and difficulties of the workers," the Prime Minister said.
Visiting workers at Yen Phu water plant, the Prime Minister noted ensuring uninterrupted water supply for daily life, production, business, national defense, and fire prevention and fighting.
