On the morning of August 30, the Hanoi People's Committee held the inauguration ceremony of Vinh Tuy Bridge Phase 2. The new bridge across the Red River started construction in January 2021, with a total investment of more than 2,500 billion VND.
Vinh Tuy Bridge Phase 2 starts at the intersection of Tran Quang Khai - Nguyen Khoi - Minh Khai Street (Hai Ba Trung District), and ends at the intersection of Long Bien - Thach Ban Street (Long Bien District). According to the design, Vinh Tuy Bridge Phase 2 across the Red River is 3.5km long and 19.25m wide.
Completing phase 2, Vinh Tuy bridge has the largest cross-sectional width among the bridges spanning the Red River in Hanoi with 8 car lanes.
After the opening ceremony this morning, all vehicles traveling from Hai Ba Trung district to Long Bien district will travel one-way on Vinh Tuy bridge phase 2. For Vinh Tuy bridge phase 1 (inaugurated in 2010), one-way traffic will be organized from Long Bien district to Hai Ba Trung district.
According to the traffic plan of the Hanoi Department of Transport, for Vinh Tuy Bridge phase 2, vehicles are allowed to travel at a maximum speed of 60km/h in 3 lanes of motor vehicles. In the mixed lane (motorbikes and non-motorized vehicles), the maximum speed is 40km/h.
Meanwhile, for Vinh Tuy Bridge phase 1, the maximum speed of motor vehicles in the 4 lanes next to the median strip is 40km/h. In the mixed lane, vehicles are allowed to travel at a maximum speed of 30km/h.
Speaking at the ceremony, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh assessed that this is an important project, contributing to solving traffic congestion and connecting the two banks of the Red River, aiming to complete the Ring Road 2, creating conditions for socio-economic development, ensuring national defense and security.
The Prime Minister praised the project's construction, which was about 4 months ahead of schedule, did not exceed budget and could save capital after final settlement.
"Nothing is difficult, we must have high determination, great effort, drastic action, focus, key points, and effectiveness," said the Prime Minister.
To comprehensively develop the transport infrastructure in the area, the Prime Minister requested Hanoi City to urgently complete the Master Plan for Hanoi Capital Construction to 2030 and vision to 2050 and submit it to the Prime Minister for approval as a basis for implementation.
The Prime Minister also requested to urgently study the overall traffic connection solution, especially related intersections to minimize traffic congestion; submit to the Government a report to the National Assembly for approval of the investment policy of Tu Lien bridge in 2024, and implement investment and construction in the 2025 - 2030 period. Agencies strive to soon start construction of Tu Lien, Hong Ha, and Me So bridges.
The Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Planning and Investment to coordinate with the Ministry of Transport and relevant ministries and branches to soon complete procedures to implement component projects of Ring Road 4.
Ministries, sectors and localities join hands and unite to implement infrastructure projects, especially highly connected and widespread transport infrastructure, so that Hanoi can have more beautiful and worthy projects.
