Revoking the recognition of 3 tourist attractions in Muong Khuong district

That was the conclusion of Comrade Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee at the meeting on the morning of June 19 organized by the Provincial People's Committee to listen to the Department of Tourism report on a number of contents in the tourism sector.

Attending the meeting were leaders of a number of relevant departments and branches; People's Committees of districts, towns and cities.

At the meeting, the leaders of the Department of Tourism reported on the contents of the withdrawal of the decision to recognize tourist spots and routes; the Plan for developing and growing green tourism in Lao Cai province, 2024 - 2025 and orientation to 2030; the Project to organize the Lao Cai International Tourism Fair; the Project to develop community tourism associated with the construction of new rural areas in Lao Cai province until 2030.

Accordingly, the Department of Tourism proposed to revoke the recognition of 3 tourist attractions in Muong Khuong district, including: Ham Rong tourist attraction (including Ham Rong cave, waterfall and central market of Muong Khuong district); Vang Leng tourist attraction (including Vang Leng cultural village, Tung Chung Pho commune and Nam Ooc cave, Nam Lu commune); Cao Son tourist attraction (including Cao Son market and craft village - Ngai Phong Cho cultural village, Cao Son commune). The reason is that these tourist attractions have not been invested in development as well as managed, exploited and promoted the value of recognized tourist attractions; the conditions for tourist attractions as prescribed have not been maintained; the names are no longer consistent with the changes in the 2017 Tourism Law.

The plan for developing and growing green tourism in Lao Cai in 2024 - 2025 and orientation to 2030 clearly states: Building and developing Lao Cai tourism in the direction of "Green, clean, beautiful, civilized, friendly tourist destination" to make Lao Cai become a leading high-quality tourist destination, especially nature experience tourism, adventure sports, resorts and ethnic cultural tourism in the leading mountainous region in Southeast Asia by 2030.

Regarding the Project to organize the Lao Cai International Tourism Fair, up to now, the Department of Tourism has updated and adjusted the draft project. Accordingly, regarding the organization time, the Department of Tourism proposed 2 options: option 1, taking place in 4 days, expected in September 2024 (associated with the "2nd Meeting with Thailand" in Lao Cai province); option 2, taking place in 4 days, expected in September 2025.

Regarding the Project on Developing Community Tourism in association with building new rural areas in Lao Cai province until 2030. Lao Cai builds and develops community tourism based on domestic standards, ASEAN standards suitable to the unique characteristics of each region and community, creating attractive destinations for tourists. At the same time, expanding space, promoting rural tourism development, creating jobs, increasing income for local people, contributing to preserving traditional cultural values, successfully building new rural areas; improving adaptability and proactiveness of people in building and developing community tourism in particular, promoting socio-economic development in rural areas in general.

Discussing at the meeting, delegates gave their opinions on the following contents: legal basis for revoking decisions on tourist destinations; legal regulations, guidelines, institutions, tourism development policies, criteria, tourism products, tourism routes; necessary conditions to prepare for international fairs, propaganda and promotion of businesses participating in the fair, ensuring order and security; specific tasks, policies, and implementation models for developing tourism projects associated with agriculture and new rural areas.

Concluding the meeting, Ms. Giang Thi Dung, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested: Based on the discussion and decision to revoke 3 tourist spots of Muong Khuong district, localities should review the recognized tourist spots but ineffective operations to continue to revoke. Regarding the organization of the Lao Cai International Tourism Fair, it is necessary to unify the content, research, organize annual seminars; organize survey teams and some sideline activities by topic over the years; rotate the organization by location and locality to achieve the best results, focusing on 2 activities: exhibition and seminar.

For the Project on Developing Community Tourism Associated with New Rural Construction in Lao Cai Province by 2030, continue to complete, synthesize, and edit the content according to the comments of the units to submit to the Provincial People's Committee for promulgation.

Regarding the Plan for development and growth of green tourism in Lao Cai province, 2024 - 2025 and orientation to 2030, the Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested to continue researching, learning, and referring to the orientation of the Ministry of Culture - Sports and Tourism and a number of ministries, branches, and localities to ensure feasibility and effectiveness for the content of green tourism development in Lao Cai province.
