Opened 22km section west of Ben Luc highway

The contractor is urgently speeding up construction items to complete the 22km western section of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway.

On December 16, Mr. Pham Hong Quang, General Director of Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC), said that they are focusing all their resources to construct the nearly 22km section from the National Highway 1 intersection (Binh Chanh District) to the Nguyen Van Tao intersection (Nha Be District, Ho Chi Minh City). This section is expected to be completed before April 30, 2025.

Deputy Minister of Transport Le Anh Tuan inspected the construction progress of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway, requiring investors and contractors to focus on construction and put the project into operation soon.

This section has 3 packages including A2-1; XL-A2.2 and A.3. The overpass section of Highway 50 has been completed and put into operation on the left branch, contributing to reducing the load on Highway 50. The overpass branch on the right is under construction with girder spans cast on scaffolding. The contractor is also completing the construction of the roundabout items.

From the National Highway 1 intersection towards Nguyen Van Tao intersection, cars can run smoothly. The main road has basically completed all layers from the foundation to the road surface. Some bridge abutment locations are being filled with earth by contractors. Some bridges are under construction with expansion joints.

On the road section, the contractor simultaneously deployed items including cement pile construction, construction of access roads for previously unfinished sections, and organic excavation of unfinished sections. Plowing and compacting the unfinished roadbed sections K95, K98, subbase and base to continue construction of the next layers.

Corporation 319 has paved asphalt concrete on some sections of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway to soon complete and hand over to the investor.

Corporation 319 is one of the units in the consortium constructing package XL-A2.2-4 of the Ben Luc - Long Thanh expressway construction project. In charge of directing the construction of the project, Colonel Khuong Van Thuy - Deputy General Director of Corporation 319 of the Ministry of National Defense said that the package has a total length of 8.4km from Ong Thin bridge to Binh Khanh bridge, Nguyen Van Tao intersection.

Workers are constructing steel items to prepare for pouring expansion joints.

In the past few days, asphalt concrete has been laid from Ong Thin bridge to Ba Lao bridge. The weather is rainy, so it is very difficult, the contractor has to wait for the construction. The section from Ba Lao bridge to Binh Khanh bridge has also been paved with asphalt concrete on the main route. The section on the overpass is being cleaned and the bridge deck is being waterproofed. In the coming days, when the weather is good, asphalt concrete will be paved.

According to the plan, the asphalt concrete pavement will not be completed until March 30, 2025, but the unit will mobilize more manpower and equipment to complete the construction earlier. Along with the asphalt concrete pavement, the contractor also installed railings, expansion joints, and painted lines to hand over to the investor for early operation as planned.

Binh Khanh Bridge is under construction with cables stretched and girder spans cast, expected to be closed in March 2025.

The Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway has a total length of 57.8km, of which the western section, from Trung Luong Expressway to Nguyen Van Tao intersection, is nearly 25km long. Of which, 3.4km from Trung Luong Expressway intersection to National Highway 1 will be put into operation at the end of this year. People can travel for free. The 22km section from National Highway 1 intersection to Nguyen Van Tao will be put into operation on April 30, 2025.

In the East, the nearly 7km section through Dong Nai from Phuoc An port to the QL51 intersection will also be put into operation before Tet. Some remaining sections through Nhon Trach are being accelerated after being stopped and restarted.

There are two large cable-stayed bridges on the route, Binh Khanh and Phuoc Khanh. Binh Khanh Bridge crosses the Soai Rap River connecting Nha Be with Can Gio. Cable tensioning and girder casting are currently underway, and the main span is expected to be completed by the end of May 2025 and completed by the end of August 2025.

Phuoc Khanh Bridge over Long Tau River, connecting Can Gio with Nhon Trach, has not yet resumed construction because the competent authority has not yet approved the investment policy. Although VEC has completed bidding procedures and selected a contractor.

The total investment for the Ben Luc - Long Thanh Expressway is nearly 30,000 billion VND. The project is invested by the Vietnam Expressway Corporation.
