Today, February 13, in Hanoi, the Central Office for New Rural Area Coordination held a meeting of the Central Appraisal Council to consider and recognize Hai Lang district, Quang Tri province as meeting new rural standards (NTM) in 2024. Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, Chairman of the Appraisal Council Tran Thanh Nam; Acting Chairman of the Quang Tri Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong attended the meeting.
At the meeting, delegates heard a detailed report on the process of building new rural areas in Hai Lang district, the results of reviewing documents and the results of collecting opinions on people's satisfaction.

By 2024, Hai Lang district had 15/15 communes achieving and maintaining the NTM standards, 3 communes achieving the advanced NTM standards, Dien Sanh town achieving the civilized urban standards, the average GRDP per capita of the district reached 74.5 million VND, the poverty rate was only 3.19%, the economic growth rate reached 12.3%, the district met the criteria of the national criteria set for NTM districts.
The results of building new rural areas in Hai Lang district have received high consensus from the people in the district, through the results of the survey on people's satisfaction conducted by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the province, with the rate of people's satisfaction reaching 99.58%.
Speaking at the meeting, Acting Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Ha Sy Dong emphasized: Hai Lang is aiming to become an industrial district of the province, the core area of the Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone with many dynamic projects. This economic zone has 19 projects in operation, with a total investment of 1,150 billion VND; more than 30 projects have been granted investment policy decisions and are implementing procedures for investment and construction, with a total investment of 150,464 billion VND.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee will accept the opinions of the members of the appraisal council and will promptly direct the review and supplementation of the dossier, as well as direct Hai Lang district to continue to have solutions and plans to improve the quality of the NTM criteria in a fundamental and core way. At the same time, overcome the issues that people still have opinions about, ensuring people's satisfaction with the NTM construction process of Hai Lang district.
Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Tran Thanh Nam suggested that Hai Lang district supplement proposed solutions to continue to sustainably maintain and improve the quality of criteria in building new rural areas, noting that the development process needs attention and ensuring related factors of tourism culture, environmental landscape, etc.
At the same time, promptly complete the report on receiving and explaining the opinions of the appraisal council members to the Central Office for New Rural Area Coordination to complete the dossier and procedures for reporting to the Central Appraisal Council to submit to the Prime Minister for recognition of the district meeting new rural area standards in accordance with regulations.
As a result, the Central Appraisal Council reviewed and recognized the district as meeting the NTM standards and unanimously submitted to the Prime Minister to recognize Hai Lang district as meeting the NTM standards in 2024.
