Entering the new school year 2023 - 2024, a male IT teacher at a primary school in Huong Khe district (Ha Tinh) was stressed because he had just been assigned to teach at 5 primary schools in the district. Because the district is mountainous and the distance between schools is far, teaching is very difficult.
“Having 5 schools at the same time means a lot of teaching hours, so teachers are very tired and stressed. Meanwhile, the schools in the mountainous areas are far apart. Not to mention that this subject is special, working too much also affects health,” said the male teacher.

Another teacher also said that previously, Information Technology was an elective subject, but now it is mandatory from grades 3 and 4. Due to lack of human resources, they have to "run around" to meet the required number of periods.
“It is very difficult for teachers to shoulder the responsibility of many schools. When the bell rings for class, they move to another school to teach, some locations are nearly ten kilometers apart,” the female teacher confided.
Due to the lack of IT teachers, Huong Lien Primary School was assigned by the Department of Education and Training of Huong Khe district to teacher Phan Thi Thu Le (teacher of Phuc Trach Primary School) to teach at the school. Last year, Ms. Le only taught 2 periods for 3rd graders, but this year, she added 2 more periods for 4th graders.
In Huong Khe, the district has 21 primary schools but this school year there are only 5 IT teachers. To meet the new general education program, before the opening day, the Department of Education and Training has arranged 3 female teachers and 2 existing IT teachers to teach in 21 schools across the district.
According to this mobilization plan, each IT teacher in this mountainous district has to "embrace" 4-5 schools at the same time. "Because of the common difficulties, we have also encouraged them to try to ensure teaching sessions for students at the schools in charge.
In addition, we have also submitted a document to the People's Committee of Huong Khe district requesting to resolve the overtime working regime for teachers and requesting to recruit more contract IT teachers," said an official from the Department of Education and Training of Huong Khe district.
According to research in Ha Tinh, the fact that Informatics has become a compulsory subject has caused many localities in this province to fall into a serious shortage of teachers. Not only in Huong Khe district, but the shortage of teachers in compulsory subjects has occurred in the whole province. For example, Vu Quang district has 10 primary schools, but only 2 teachers; Ky Anh district has 17 primary schools, but only 13 teachers teach Informatics...
