The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training directed schools to continue to organize the selection of textbooks based on the principles of democracy, objectivity, publicity, transparency, respect for teachers' professional opinions, for the benefit of students and stable use in educational institutions.
Supplementing and adjusting the list of textbooks of general education institutions is carried out according to regulations on the principle of respecting teachers' suggestions on expertise.
During the process of using textbooks, schools synthesize and report the content and materials that need to be adjusted in textbooks of subjects and educational activities (if any) from teachers' contributions to the Department of Education and Training for synthesis and reporting to the Ministry.
Based on the selection, according to the regulations of the Ministry, educational institutions synthesize the demand for textbooks expected to be used for the 2025-2026 school year so that the Department of Education and Training can provide information on the demand for textbooks for subjects and educational activities to publishers, organizations and individuals with textbooks selected according to regulations 4 months before the start of the new school year. This is to promptly supply textbooks in the area, ensure quality, and ensure that there is no delay or shortage of textbooks before the start of the new school year.
At the same time, there is a plan to support textbooks for poor and near-poor students, students from poor and near-poor households, students from policy beneficiaries, students in difficult and disadvantaged circumstances... to ensure adequate textbooks.
Regarding the preparation of textbooks for the new school year, Mr. Nguyen Bao Quoc, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training, requested schools and departments of education and training to strengthen inspection of the organization of selection and use of textbooks according to the provisions of law, promptly correct violations and shortcomings (if any) and at the same time, promote and commend organizations and individuals who have performed well and have plans to effectively use textbooks to improve the quality of teaching and learning.
