The pilot implementation of biometric authentication at Phu Bai International Airport will last from now until June 13.

The implementation of biometric authentication (facial recognition) when citizens check in for flights aims to actively participate in ensuring social security and order, reduce check-in time for passengers, and increase accuracy. At the same time, this also helps prevent and detect passengers using fake documents to board flights and screen out banned and wanted subjects.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam agreed to continue implementing biometric authentication, authentication and use of citizen identification cards, passports with electronic chips, level 2 electronic identification accounts for air passengers and piloting the application of biometric technology in passenger check-in procedures at Phu Bai International Airport according to the pilot plan proposed by ACV.

In addition, for the pilot project at Cat Bi and Noi Bai International Airports, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested ACV to consistently implement the pilot project at Cat Bi and Noi Bai International Airports according to the pilot project at Phu Bai International Airport, only adjusting specific details to suit the specific characteristics of each airport (if necessary).

Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam had directed, instructed, and requested ACV units, Van Don International Airport, aviation agencies, units, and related State management agencies to coordinate in implementing biometric authentication when citizens check in for flights at airports.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam requested ACV to direct its affiliated units to expand the scope of the pilot, ensuring consistency and consistency throughout the process (piloting the application of biometric authentication technology right from when passengers check in for domestic flights, check in their checked baggage and goods at the check-in counter, at the security checkpoint and at the aircraft gate).
