(Dan Tri) - On the second day of the 2025 Asian Road Cycling Championship, the Vietnamese team unexpectedly won the Gold Medal (HCV), belonging to veteran Hoang Hai Nam.

This afternoon (February 8), racer Hoang Hai Nam competed in the men's over 60 individual time trial. The race distance was 10.7 km.

As a result, Hoang Hai Nam won the gold medal with a competition time of 15 minutes 30.867 seconds, average speed of 41.419 km/h.

It is worth mentioning that Hoang Hai Nam won the gold medal using a bicycle borrowed from the Thai Cycling Association (TCA), after the entire competition equipment of the Vietnamese road cycling team was burned down on February 5, in Thailand.

More importantly, this is the first time veteran Hoang Hai Nam has participated in the Asian championship. Before that, Hoang Hai Nam was an amateur racer.

Veteran Hoang Hai Nam's gold medal in the men's over-60 individual time trial is a great encouragement for the Vietnamese road cycling team at this year's tournament, after the team's competition equipment caught fire.

It is known that on February 10, the Vietnam Bicycle - Motor Sports Federation will urgently transfer 12 specialized bicycles to supplement the entire team, as a means for the team to compete until the end of the tournament.
