Early investment in Chu Lai airport
Reporting at the meeting, Mr. Le Van Dung - Chairman of Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee - said that in the process of implementing Notice No. 135, the central ministries, branches and the Government Office coordinated, supported and helped the province to achieve certain results.
However, to continue effective implementation, it is recommended that the Prime Minister consider allowing Quang Nam to propose to competent authorities to implement "special mechanisms and policies to build and develop Quang Nam province". In particular, focusing on a number of major programs and projects such as: socialization of Chu Lai airport; seaport and logistics clusters; pilot duty-free zones in Chu Lai Open Economic Zone; preservation and promotion of the values of the world heritage of Hoi An ancient town, My Son temple complex, Dong Duong Buddhist Institute national relic, etc.
Concluding the meeting, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the achievements of Quang Nam, which have made important contributions to the overall results of the country. The Prime Minister said that Quang Nam is a land of revolutionary heroes, with a glorious historical tradition, "brave and resilient, leading the way in defeating the Americans", so it is necessary to promote the spirit of leading in economic development. Central ministries and branches unanimously work with Quang Nam to resolve difficulties and obstacles, promoting the strengths of the locality.
Regarding the implementation of Conclusion Notice No. 135, the Prime Minister assessed that apart from THACO's good implementation, the ministries, branches and Quang Nam basically implemented slowly and were not really serious, and needed to learn from experience. Regarding the recommendations of Quang Nam province, the Prime Minister answered each specific content and assigned a deadline for the province and ministries and branches to implement.
Regarding the Project on socialization of investment and exploitation of Chu Lai Airport associated with Tam Quang Duty Free Zone, the Prime Minister said that the authority belongs to the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, the province must take the lead, and any issues related to national defense land must be discussed with the Ministry of National Defense. In February, land issues must be completely resolved. The Prime Minister emphasized that this is a very important airport, he has been very satisfied with it for a long time, not just now.
"You don't have to ask anyone, if you have any difficulties, discuss with the ministries: National Defense, Natural Resources - Environment, Finance, if there are any difficulties, leave it to Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha to resolve. The sooner the better, all procedures must be completed in the first 6 months of 2025. Call for investment, any enterprise that commits to completing it after 2 years will be allowed to do it" - the Prime Minister emphasized and requested Quang Nam to focus on this work, considering it the most important and urgent task.
Untangling business
Previously, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh visited and worked with THACO Group at THACO Chu Lai Industrial Park (in Nui Thanh district).
At the meeting, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the achievements that THACO has achieved in recent times, and emphasized the important role of the group in the country's economic development. In the coming time, the Prime Minister requested that THACO continue to play a pioneering role in innovation, creativity, improvement of production and business activities, accompanying the whole country in the process of accelerating development and strong breakthroughs. The Government assigned a target of 10% growth for Quang Nam, then THACO needs to achieve 12% - 15%, in a comprehensive and sustainable direction.
The Prime Minister requested THACO to actively promote digital transformation, green transformation, creative economic development, and the application of modern technology in production. In particular, research and development of train cars for high-speed railways, aiming at technology transfer, improving domestic production capacity, reducing dependence on imports, and creating more momentum for the development of supporting industries.
Visiting and working with Hyosung Quang Nam Company Limited, the Prime Minister highly appreciated the company's contribution to Vietnam's socio-economic development and welcomed the company's investment expansion plans. The Prime Minister affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will continue to create favorable conditions for the company's projects to be implemented effectively and sustainably. At the meeting, the Prime Minister and representatives of ministries and branches directed Hyosung and its four recommendations to be promptly resolved.
Great motivation for the province
On the same morning, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh offered incense at the Martyrs Cemetery of Quang Nam province; the Monument complex of Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Thu; visited, presented gifts, and wished longevity to Heroic Vietnamese Mother Nguyen Thi Thoai in Tam Hiep commune, Nui Thanh district - whose husband and son are martyrs.
Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Secretary of the Quang Nam Provincial Party Committee, said that the Prime Minister's visit to Quang Nam at the beginning of the new year is a great encouragement for the province. Quang Nam would like to accept the Prime Minister's instructions and the opinions of ministries and branches. The province will closely coordinate with ministries and branches and promises that the collective leadership of Quang Nam will unite, agree, and make more efforts to complete the tasks, especially the double-digit growth target.
