According to MAUR, IC cards used for passengers in the AFC system (automatic fare collection system of metro line 1) will include 2 types: high security cards and medium security cards. Of which, high security cards are used for top-up cards (SFC), daily tickets, with a red design.

The medium security card is used for single-journey tickets (SJT), which have a blue design. Each IC card is equipped with a FeliCa chip with near-field contact (NFC) technology about 10 cm.

Regarding the design idea for the IC card used for passengers, the front of the IC card is inspired by the design ideas of the city's current typical buildings such as the City People's Committee headquarters, Ben Thanh market, City Theater, Notre Dame Cathedral, Bitexco building, Landmark building... The back of the IC card will be printed with information to know when using the card.

"The card will be issued before metro line 1 is put into operation. In the coming time, the contractor of CP3 package of metro line 1, Hitachi Company, will produce and hand over the initial quantity for the time of putting metro line 1, Ben Thanh - Suoi Tien, into operation" - MAUR representative informed.

Medium security cards will be designed in blue

The project is expected to test operate the entire route on September 2.
