Where is this field?

These days, many people passing through National Highway 61C ( Can Tho - Hau Giang section) cannot help but admire a brilliant pink lotus field in Tan Hoa commune, Chau Thanh A district, Hau Giang. Along the nearly 50km long road in the West, people on both sides grow rice, so the appearance of the lotus field is a highlight.

Coincidentally, the lotus fields are blooming right at the time when the rice fields are ripening. The golden color of the rice and the pink color of the lotus create a beautiful countryside scene. The feeling of standing in the middle of the dike, with rice on one side and lotus on the other, both at their most beautiful, is truly impressive.

Therefore, many people passing through QL61C cannot help but be overwhelmed, stopping to admire the beauty of the fields. Many of them also prepare Ao Ba Ba and Ao Dai to take pictures. The cool morning air is the time when most people come to take pictures.

Lotus and rice are both in their most brilliant stage.

Surprised when many people stopped by to take pictures

Mr. Bach Van Thang (35 years old), the owner of the lotus field, said that he and his wife were very surprised that so many people loved it. The lotus field has an area of about 8,0002, which is the land he rented from his neighbor. "Before, people grew rice and left it fallow, so I rented it. To turn it into a lotus field like this, I worked hard to renovate it, because before that it was all reeds," Mr. Thang said.

The field attracts many young people to take pictures.

Mr. Thang added that when everyone around him was growing rice, his decision to grow lotus was said to be... nonsense. But no matter what anyone said, he still decided to change rice to grow lotus. Mr. Thang shared: "The land here is also good for growing rice, but now I find growing lotus is more profitable. Maybe because of the suitable soil, the new crop has less pests and diseases, so the income from the last two lotus crops is twice as high as growing rice."

Many people invest in costumes to match the beautiful scenery of the West.

Talking about the reason why many people come to the lotus field to take pictures, Mr. Thang said it was probably due to fate. Because the lotus field has been harvested twice, the first time was also very successful but people paid little attention, the second time more people were interested. "Each lotus growing season takes 6 months, 3 months for planting and 3 months for harvesting. The second harvest coincided with the Lunar New Year. Therefore, many people passing through National Highway 61C stopped to take pictures, so it gradually became known to many people," Mr. Thang added.

Beautiful, charming natural scenery makes many young people excited

According to Ms. Nguyen Bich Tram (Mr. Thang's wife), the family has built a small temporary hut to look after the lotus. Being a lotus lover, she is also happy when many people stop by to take pictures. "At first, I let everyone come in and take pictures freely. However, some people arbitrarily broke the lotus flowers and shoots, which made my husband and I quite sad. Therefore, later I wrote a sign stating that taking pictures costs 10,000 VND, each lotus flower and shoot also costs 10,000 VND. The main purpose is to make people appreciate the results of farmers' labor more," Ms. Tram confided.

Many people come here to "hunt" for beautiful photos.

To give visitors a "cool" place to take photos, Ms. Tram built a wooden bridge leading to the middle of the lotus field. Anyone who comes to take photos can stay as long as they want. "After Tet, there are still many people coming to take photos. Unfortunately, this is rented land, and the deadline to pay is approaching. I am also growing lotus on many other plots of land, but the location is not as favorable as this one," Ms. Tram regretted.

At around 8am, Tran Hoang Dang Thu (27 years old, Vi Thanh City, Hau Giang) and her teacher took the opportunity to travel about 30km to reach the lotus field. To match the Western countryside scene, Thu wore a traditional Vietnamese dress and her teacher wore ao dai. Thu happily said: "I learned about this place through social networks, but when I came here in person, I found the actual scenery even more beautiful than in the photos. This is the ideal time because it is the most beautiful time of lotus and rice. Waking up early and traveling far to get here is really worth it."

Many young people take advantage of the morning to take photos when the lotus blooms most beautifully.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Tieu Phung (22 years old), from Kien Giang to Can Tho City to study, stopped her car to admire and take pictures with her friends. "Although I also live in the West, my house is in the rice fields, but when I passed this section, I couldn't take my eyes off it because it was so beautiful. This scene is not easy to find, at this time it is like in a painting. But if tomorrow people harvest rice, even though there are still lotus flowers, the scenery will be less attractive. Therefore, I feel very lucky to have come here at the right time," Phung confided.
