After Tet, as usual, wild pear flower branches are brought back to Hanoi by traders to sell, attracting many buyers despite the high prices.

Over the past years, the image of wild pear flowers sold on Lac Long Quan street (Tay Ho district, Hanoi) after Tet has become familiar to many people.

Wild pear flowers (also known as mac coc flowers, white pear flowers) are grown in many mountainous provinces in the Northwest such as: Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Son La... This flower species begins to bloom from around mid-February of the solar calendar.

Wild pear blossoms have begun to appear on Lac Long Quan Street (Tay Ho District, Hanoi) to serve people's needs after Tet.

Wild pear flowers are pure white, not only beautiful but also have special feng shui meaning, symbolizing purity, peace and warmth in life.

According to a survey by reporters, the price of wild pear flower branches this year is higher than last year, ranging from 500,000 VND to 2 million VND depending on the shape and size of the branch. Larger, more beautiful branches are even sold for up to 4 - 5 million VND/branch.

Not only possessing pure beauty, wild pear flowers are sought after by many people because of their special feng shui meaning, bringing peace and warmth to life.

According to a trader, this year the number of beautiful wild pear flower branches is not as much as in previous years, so traders do not dare to import many. Also because of the low supply, the price of wild pear flowers is higher than in previous years.

"In recent years, the demand for wild pear flowers has increased, so pear flower growing areas have been exploited a lot. Beautiful trees have become increasingly scarce. After taking pear flowers from the forest, we have to cut off excess and ugly branches because customers who play with wild pear flowers are often very picky. No one will buy ugly branches with few buds," said a trader.

A vendor selling wild pear flowers on Lac Long Quan Street said that the price of wild pear flowers this year is higher than every year due to the scarcity of beautiful branches. The branches sold are also carefully trimmed and selected.

According to the reporter, although the price of wild pear flowers is higher than every year, the number of buyers looking for this type of flower is still very large. Ms. Hoang Thu Tra (Hoang Mai district, Hanoi) said that her family often keeps the habit of buying wild pear flowers to display after each Tet holiday. This year, although the cost to buy a branch of wild pear flowers is higher, she still decided to buy two branches to display in the house.

“This year, the price of wild pear flowers is almost double that of last year. Last year, I bought 2 pear branches for an average price of only 1 million VND/branch. This year, I also bought 2 branches but the price was 2 million VND/branch. Even though the price was high, I still decided to buy them because my husband and children love pear flowers. This type of flower blooms with a beautiful white color, brightening up the whole house,” said Ms. Tra.

Although the price of wild pear flowers is higher than every year, many people still decide to buy this type of flower to display in their homes.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Quan (Cau Giay district, Hanoi city), the reason many people are willing to spend millions to buy wild pear flowers is because this type of flower can be enjoyed for a long time.

"Wild pear flowers usually bloom in many batches, each batch lasting 10 - 15 days. With pear branches with many buds, they can last for 1 - 2 months. Therefore, many people do not hesitate to spend millions of dong to bring these flower branches home," said Mr. Quan.

Besides wild pear flowers, on Lac Long Quan Street (Tay Ho District, Hanoi City), vendors also sell many types of peach blossoms, peach blossoms and plum blossom bouquets. Plum and peach blossom bouquets are sold for 80,000 - 100,000 VND/bouquet.

After Tet, peach blossom branches are still sought after by people to play on the full moon of January. The price of small peach blossom branches ranges from 100,000 - 200,000 VND/branch, large peach blossom branches range from 300,000 - 500,000 VND/branch.
