"Big guys" connect and guide small businesses

Responding to the invitation that "enterprises can register to do and propose policies and mechanisms to carry out the country's major tasks" that Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh mentioned at the Government Standing Committee meeting with enterprises this morning (February 10), the owners of the country's largest corporations have made recommendations to "launch" major projects.

Mr. Tran Ba Duong, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Truong Hai Group Corporation (Thaco), said that he will focus on participating in urban railway construction, especially train cars and steel components.

“With our team of engineers and experience in product research and development and international cooperation, I promise the Prime Minister that we will have reasonable technology transfer, organize on-site production to reduce costs and this product will have the participation of Vietnamese enterprises, responsible for quality and cost.

Through large projects, it will help small and medium enterprises participate in the production chain, as well as link up to order steel manufactured according to product standards," said Thaco Chairman.

Next September, the group will start construction of a 700-hectare mechanical support industrial park in Binh Duong.

For agriculture, Thaco has formed a large-scale agricultural production model, integrating circularity on an organic basis and has been successful in Cambodia and Laos and "takes responsibility for forming a production model in the highlands".

“I hope this model will help the country become an effective agricultural producer, with a brand name and able to compete with countries with developed agriculture,” said Mr. Duong.

However, Mr. Duong said that the plateau is currently facing difficulties due to the lack of synchronous planning and irrigation systems, so some farmers are successful, some are not, sometimes they are successful, sometimes they are not.

Regarding logistics, Mr. Duong said that the group has been successful with a 5,000-ton port specializing in containers, and has connections to southern Laos, northern Cambodia and the Central Highlands.

Recently, the Prime Minister has handled the issue of the 50,000-ton channel that the group invested in and built. If the institution works quickly and has its own characteristics, Mr. Duong promised the Prime Minister that he will try to put it into operation by early 2026. When operating, the company has also invested in two ships with a capacity of 1,000 TEU to connect from Chu Lai directly to Shanghai (China), from there to Europe, America, and Northeast Asia. At that time, the logistics costs in the Central region will certainly be equivalent to those in the South and North.

Mr. Tran Dinh Long, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Hoa Phat Group Joint Stock Company, said that in the 2025-2030 plan, public investment capital is very large, especially the urban railway project in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, and the Lao Cai - Hanoi - Hai Phong railway project. This is a great opportunity for businesses.

“In the near future, Hoa Phat may invest in a rail manufacturing plant with a capital of 10,000 billion VND. This is a very special product, if it is not used for the project, we do not know who to sell it to. Therefore, we really hope to have a document like a resolution so that businesses can feel secure in investing and manufacturing products for the project.

We promise to ensure the supply of steel for the Railway Corporation to carry out the project. According to the plan, about 10 million tons of steel is needed, Hoa Phat commits to ensure the quantity of 10 million tons, quality, delivery schedule and price lower than import price", Mr. Long said.

Private sector pioneer in new field

Mr. Nguyen Viet Quang, General Director of Vingroup, said that in recent years, the group has made efforts to invest in strategic areas such as energy infrastructure, green economy, digital economy, and supporting industry to contribute to realizing the vision of sustainable development.

Vinfast not only produces electric vehicles but also focuses on building a supporting industrial chain from battery production, charging stations to smart energy solutions.

In addition, Vingroup also promotes the application of digital technology and digital transformation in operational management. The fields of research and development of artificial intelligence and big data are deployed to optimize production and enhance customer experience.

Mr. Quang said that Vingroup has recently entered the field of robotics and multi-purpose robots by establishing two new companies, VinRobotics and Vin Ocean, to develop optimal solutions for businesses and create practical, sustainable and humane benefits for people.

Considering that converting polluting vehicles and developing digital technology requires energy development, Vingroup's CEO proposed a more open policy mechanism to invite domestic and foreign investors to participate in the electricity business, contributing to ensuring sufficient output and reducing electricity costs.

“Vingroup is committed to playing a pioneering role in promoting innovation and sustainable development in the country. We believe that with the support of the Government, ministries, and sectors, private enterprises have the opportunity to go further and contribute to building a prosperous, green, and sustainable economy,” said Mr. Quang.

Meanwhile, Mr. Le Van Kiem, Chairman of KN Holdings, proposed that the Government soon approve the adjusted Power Plan VIII, as well as approve the Plan to deploy renewable energy sources for the period up to 2030.

For solar energy projects, he recommends investing in battery storage systems to ensure optimal operation and to ensure that the system is not overloaded.

Decree 80/2024/ND-CP of the Government on the direct electricity purchase and sale mechanism was issued in July 2024, but there are still no detailed guiding circulars, nor specific regulations on related fees.

Therefore, Mr. Kiem hopes that the Government will pay attention and direct the early completion of the legal framework so that the decree can quickly come into practice, helping businesses access clean energy and improve competitiveness in the global supply chain.

Prime Minister calls on businesses to register to do the country's big things Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh suggested that in the country's big things, businesses should register to do what they can and propose policies and mechanisms to implement it, as long as they do not seek personal gain and prevent corruption and negativity.
