Báo Thanh niênBáo Thanh niên19/11/2024

At some schools in Ca Mau, teachers and students have to teach and learn in flooded conditions due to high tides.

On November 19, several schools in Ca Mau province were deeply flooded due to high tides, affecting the travel and study of students and teachers.

Recorded in Nam Can District, from about 4 to 8 am, high tides flooded 3 schools, the most serious of which was Hang Vinh Secondary School (Hang Vinh Commune). The rising water flooded the schoolyard and classrooms, the deepest part was more than 30cm. Many students sat studying with their feet in the water. Some classrooms were deeply flooded, forcing the school to temporarily suspend classes, waiting for the water to recede.

Tan Tien Primary School, Tan Tien Commune, Dam Doi District was flooded, affecting the travel and study of students and teachers.

To ensure teaching, school staff and teachers focus on moving equipment and supplies to dry areas to avoid damage.

In Dam Doi and Ngoc Hien districts, high tides also flooded many schools in riverside and coastal areas. Ms. Lam Kim Tien, Principal of Tan Tien Primary School (Tan Tien Commune, Dam Doi District), said that in recent days, high tides have flooded the schoolyard, greatly affecting the movement of students and teachers.

High water in the school yard and classrooms makes teaching and learning difficult for teachers and students.

"This year's high tides are higher than in previous years. Currently, the school has coordinated with local authorities to build a dike to prevent flooding in the coming days, as well as in the next high tides," said Ms. Tien.

Not only affecting teaching and learning, high tides also affect people's lives and production, especially in coastal areas.
