The National Press Awards is a major event that attracts special attention from the press community nationwide. It is the most prestigious award for press works, honoring authors and groups of authors with the best works every year. The National Press Awards have gone through 16 seasons accompanying the press life, becoming a truly useful professional activity, spreading widely in all levels of the Association, in the press community and increasingly affirming its reputation as the most prestigious professional award for journalists nationwide.
Timely reflection of many prominent and influential topics
Speaking at the opening of the final round, comrade Le Quoc Minh, member of the Party Central Committee, Editor-in-Chief of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department, President of the Vietnam Journalists Association, Chairman of the Final Round Council said: This year is the 17th year the Award has been held, with many new members in both the Preliminary Round Council and the Final Round Council. The organization of the award was carried out in a systematic and methodical manner, attracting the active and enthusiastic participation of all levels of the Association, press agencies and journalist members and collaborators nationwide.
According to the report of the Preliminary Council, the number of works submitted to the Award this year is still high. The Council's support committees have made efforts to carry out the work on schedule, ensuring the requirements of the award organization process. The 72 members of the Preliminary Council, divided into 11 Sub-committees, worked with professionalism and a high sense of responsibility, strictly implementing the Charter, Guidelines and Award Judging Regulations, conducting appraisal, judging and submitting to the Final Council a list of 157 works in 11 award categories, selected from 1,894 submitted works.
The works submitted to the Award closely followed major topics from politics, economics, culture, society, security, defense and aspects of life in 2022. The press promptly and vividly reflected major events and important issues of the country with prominent topics that had great influence and were of public interest.

In 2022, the world situation will continue to have rapid, complex, unpredictable and difficult-to-forecast fluctuations with increasing risk factors, having a major impact on a global scale. In the country, 2022 is an important year to create a foundation for implementing the goals of the Resolution of the 13th National Party Congress and resolutions of Party Congresses at all levels.
Comrade Le Quoc Minh said that in that context, closely following the direction and leadership of the Party and the State, and the practical situation of the country, the press work has achieved many important and outstanding results. The press has propagated strongly, in depth, and at the same time, it is very diverse and rich in the form of expression about the direction and administration of the National Assembly in the work of legislation, supervision, and law enforcement; of the Government, the Prime Minister, ministries, branches, and localities in the work of preventing and fighting the Covid-19 epidemic.
Speed up the pace of socio-economic recovery and development; on Party building, preventing and combating corruption, waste, and negativity; on Party inspection, supervision, and discipline; on propaganda on protecting the Party's ideological foundation, refuting the wrong views of hostile forces; and on effective foreign propaganda information lines.

Many press agencies have innovated and approached modern journalism technology to bring information to different infrastructures and media platforms to increase accessibility for people; gradually implementing digital transformation of journalism. Thanks to that, in addition to major central press agencies, some local newspapers have also changed the way they choose topics and themes, and implemented them in a multimedia format, which was highly appreciated by the Preliminary Council for its quality.

The works address truly important issues of the country, ensuring political-ideological, orientational, truthfulness, having positive and strong social impacts, worthy of being awarded the 17th National Press Award - 2022 on the occasion of the 98th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day on June 21, towards the milestone of 100 years of Vietnam Revolutionary Press in 2025.
"The members of the Final Jury are experienced, enthusiastic and highly prestigious journalists. Many of them have participated in the final judging of many journalism awards in recent years, are steadfast in their ideology, proficient in their profession, and objective in evaluating and discovering good works and talented writers. Their presence is an important guarantee for the success of the Award," said comrade Le Quoc Minh.
