Establishment of fisheries cooperatives

According to the Provincial Cooperative Union, from 2023 to present, the unit has coordinated with agencies and localities to organize 9 training courses in Song Cau Town, Tuy An District, and Dong Hoa Town. The delegates participating in the training are officials of district-level departments; chairmen, vice chairmen and experts at commune, village, and neighborhood levels, along with many individuals and households involved in aquaculture, processing, and purchasing of seafood, etc.

Sharing about the policy of mobilizing the establishment of aquatic cooperatives, Mr. Ngo Quang Hiep, Vice Chairman of the Provincial Cooperative Union, said: The Party Central Committee has Resolution 36 on the Strategy for sustainable development of Vietnam's marine economy to 2030, with a vision to 2045. To implement this resolution, the Vietnam Cooperative Union plans to promote propaganda about the sea and islands throughout the alliance system. In Phu Yen, Plan 218 of the Provincial People's Committee affirms the goal of mobilizing is to help fishermen raise awareness about protecting the sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland, promoting the development of the marine economy when participating in the establishment of new-style cooperatives. The Provincial People's Committee assigned the Provincial Cooperative Union to preside over and coordinate with relevant departments and branches to organize propaganda classes, provide advice and support procedures for establishing cooperatives and cooperative unions in the aquatic sector. The Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (now the Provincial Department of Agriculture and Environment) disseminates and guides policies and mechanisms on agricultural cooperatives in general and fisheries cooperatives in particular for businesses, farmers and fishermen; directs specialized units to support fisheries cooperatives in developing projects and projects to link production and consumption according to Resolution 10/2020/NQ-HDND dated July 10, 2020 of the Provincial People's Council.

“The Provincial People's Committee also requested the four coastal localities of the province, namely Tuy Hoa City, Dong Hoa Town, Song Cau Town, and Tuy An District, to strengthen the direction of district-level professional agencies and commune-level People's Committees to regularly organize propaganda, mobilization, consultation, and guidance for people, organizations, businesses, and those who truly have the desire and wish to establish cooperatives on the documents and procedures for establishing cooperatives in the fisheries sector in the management area; create conditions for fisheries cooperatives to participate in projects linking production and consumption according to the value chain…”, Mr. Hiep shared more.

The Provincial People's Committee identifies this as a political task of authorities at all levels to contribute to the development of collective economy and cooperatives in the local fisheries sector.
