On January 16, a working delegation from the Naval Region 5 Command and delegations from southern provinces and cities, businesses and press agencies visited, encouraged and wished a happy new year to officers, soldiers and people of Tho Chu island.

Tho Chu archipelago is located in the Southwest sea, about 100km northeast of Phu Quoc island, about 200km from Rach Gia city, about 140km from Ca Mau cape; about 40 nautical miles southwest of international shipping routes.
Before visiting and presenting gifts to the units stationed on Tho Chu Island, the delegation offered incense to commemorate President Ho Chi Minh, heroic martyrs and compatriots murdered by the Khmer Rouge at Tho Chau Temple.

Visiting and presenting gifts to units stationed on Tho Chu Island, the delegation sent New Year wishes of peace and solidarity to the officers and soldiers, hoping that they will always be a solid support for people to live in peace and develop the economy in the border area.
On behalf of the units stationed in the area, Captain Hoang Cong Hieu, Head of Radar Station 610, promised to always unite and work with other units to overcome difficulties and firmly protect the sovereignty of the homeland's sea and islands.

Captain Hoang Cong Hieu, Head of Radar Station 610, Regiment 551, Naval Region 5 Command, said that Radar Station 610 was established on December 26, 1976. With the mission of being ready to fight, observing, detecting, reporting, managing and grasping the situation at sea and in low airspace, promptly reporting to the higher command; training, practicing discipline, building a regular routine, ensuring safety; working with local forces to firmly protect the sovereignty of the assigned sea and islands and performing other tasks when ordered.

Over the past time, 100% of officers and soldiers of Radar Station 610 have always been mentally secure, clearly defined their tasks, have high determination, good quality of work performance; strictly comply with military discipline, state laws, directives, regulations, and plans from above. The unit ensures absolute safety.
The station has thoroughly grasped and strictly implemented the Resolutions, Directives, orders, and plans of all levels on combat readiness, observation, detection, and notification of targets in the assigned sea area, strictly maintained the regime, forces, and means of duty in accordance with regulations, organized radar observation, and well managed the assigned sea area.
