On the morning of January 28, in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province, a delegation of the Naval Region 5 Command led by Colonel Trinh Xuan Tung, Commander of the Region, offered flowers and incense at the Uncle Ho Monument, Phu Quoc Martyrs Temple, Phu Quoc City Martyrs Cemetery and the Fist Monument on the occasion of the Lunar New Year 2025.

The delegation included Rear Admiral Nguyen Huu Thoan, Political Commissar of Naval Region 5 Command; Lieutenant Colonel Mai Dang Danh, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of Naval Region 5 Command; heads of agencies, units and a large number of officers and soldiers.
In a solemn and emotional atmosphere, the delegation respectfully offered flowers and incense to commemorate and express their infinite gratitude for the great contributions of President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs who heroically sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland and for the happiness of the people.
In 2024, the officers, soldiers, and Command of Naval Region 5 thoroughly grasped the situation and tasks, united, creative, proactive, and strived to successfully complete all assigned tasks. Among them, many tasks were excellently completed such as: Training, combat readiness, exercises, defense diplomacy, patrolling, reconnaissance, and strictly managing assigned sea areas.

The region has done a good job of propagating the sea and islands, and combating illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing; effectively maintained the program "Vietnam Navy as a fulcrum for fishermen to go offshore and stick to the sea", the activity "Navy sponsors fishermen's children"; and carried out well the work of mass mobilization, search and rescue, prevention of natural disasters, fires and forest fires.
During the year, the unit coordinated with local authorities and forces to promptly extinguish 7 fires in the stationed area; transported and provided nearly 1,000m3 of fresh water free of charge to people in drought and saltwater intrusion areas in Ca Mau province and fishermen in the Southwest sea. Thereby, it contributed to strengthening the solidarity between the army and the people, building a solid "people's hearts" at sea. With the achieved results, in 2024, the Naval Region 5 Command was awarded the Flag by the Ministry of National Defense as the leading unit in the emulation movement "Determined to Win"...
Before the spirit of President Ho Chi Minh and the heroic martyrs, officers and soldiers of the Naval Region 5 Command vow to promote the revolutionary tradition and achievements, unite, strive, train, study, work, and excellently complete all assigned tasks, contributing to firmly protecting the sacred sovereignty of the sea and islands of the Fatherland.
