From the source of mobilizing agencies, units, and businesses to sponsor, in this release, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Lieu province released over 6 million shrimp fry into the natural environment. Along with the activity of releasing shrimp fry into the natural environment, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Lieu province also organized propaganda, calling on people to protect the environment, ecosystem, diversify aquatic products, and develop effective and sustainable fishing.

Mr. Pham Van Muoi - Deputy Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Lieu province said that in recent years, the awareness of people, especially coastal fishermen, about protecting aquatic resources and the ecological environment has been increasingly raised. Such results are thanks to the drastic participation of the entire political system in propagating and raising public awareness about protecting and developing sustainable aquatic resources. The use of prohibited fishing gear and fishing gear that destroys aquatic resources is gradually being effectively controlled.

To contribute to the restoration and regeneration of aquatic resources and aquatic ecosystems every year, on the occasion of the Traditional Day of the Fisheries Industry (April 1) and World Environment Day (June 5), the agricultural sector of Bac Lieu province organizes the release of shrimp and fish fry into the natural environment to regenerate aquatic resources; thereby raising public awareness of the importance and significance of aquatic resource regeneration activities.

The People's Committee of Bac Lieu province has also issued many documents directing departments, branches, sectors, People's Committees of districts, towns and cities to implement measures to tighten State management to effectively prevent the use of destructive fishing gear and electric shocks that affect aquatic resources.

According to statistics over the past 5 years, Bac Lieu province has released nearly 40 million giant tiger prawns, 500,000 fish and nearly 5 tons of commercial fish into the natural environment. In 2023 alone, the authorities will release over 10 million giant tiger prawns into the sea; along with that, 2 tons of fish will be released into natural water bodies in inland areas to regenerate aquatic resources.

To further contribute to raising public awareness in protecting and developing aquatic resources, the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Lieu province will continue to coordinate with relevant agencies and local authorities to strengthen propaganda for people about the task of protecting aquatic resources through training courses on the Law on Fisheries. Accordingly, leaflets will be distributed and direct propaganda will be provided to fishermen through activities of inspecting and granting fishing licenses, and issuing certificates of hygiene and safety of fishing vessels, fishing wharves, and fishing ports.

Units under the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Bac Lieu province have annual plans to inspect and control at sea and in canals in the fields. In addition, coordinate with the Waterway Traffic Police to conduct surprise inspections of violations of aquatic resource protection in canals in the fields... Through the implementation of the above solutions, it contributes to protecting aquatic resources, preserving the biodiversity of aquatic resources; gradually changing people's awareness in managing the exploitation and regeneration of aquatic resources based on the community, helping the fisheries industry develop sustainably in the future.
