(Dan Tri) - The leader of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health emphasized that stem cells have opened up great prospects in modern medicine, but it is necessary to strictly comply with legal regulations in research, production and application.

At the 13th Annual Stem Cell Conference, held on December 6 in Ho Chi Minh City, Associate Professor Tran Cong Toai, Chairman of the Ho Chi Minh City Stem Cell Association, said that this year's conference has the theme "Stem cells in therapy and anti-aging".

This workshop has 4 sessions, focusing on contents such as legal issues of stem cells, stem cell applications in aesthetics, anti-aging and regeneration... The workshop has experts from Vietnam, Italy, Canada, China... attending and sharing.

Therefore, this activity not only contributes professionally but also creates a bridge of cooperation and development between Vietnam and the world.

Ho Chi Minh City has pioneered the application of advanced technologies and promoted stem cell research. These advances not only serve the development of the medical industry, but also contribute to raising the position of Ho Chi Minh City on the international scientific map.

The above conference is not purely with scientific reports, but also has discussions on legal, management and practical application aspects, to develop the stem cell field in the right direction and most strongly.

The Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health emphasized the need to strictly comply with legal regulations in stem cell research, production and application, and to comply with regulations of the Ministry of Health and competent authorities, especially ensuring safety, transparency and ethics in medicine.

Stem cell research and applications must not only aim at innovation, but also be associated with the responsibility of protecting public health and social security.

Sharing about the current applications of stem cells, Dr. Phan Thanh Hao, Chairman of the Anti-Aging Stem Cell Association, Ho Chi Minh City Stem Cell Association, said that stem cells are applied in cosmetic treatments for skin and hair.

Scientific evidence in preclinical and clinical studies has established the safety and efficacy of using exosomes from mesenchymal stem cells for the treatment of many skin and hair diseases and cosmetic treatments.

Dr. Trinh Nhu Thuy, who has more than 15 years of experience in the field of stem cells and regenerative medicine, shared that the research and application of stem cells in supporting the treatment of type 1 and type 2 diabetes is receiving great attention in Vietnam and around the world.

Recently, genetically edited induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) and mesenchymal stem cell (MSC) transplantation together with pancreatic islet cells have made significant progress in improving the efficiency of stem cell transplantation, leading to enhanced therapeutic efficacy.

These advances may lead to solutions using stem cells as therapeutic agents to treat diabetes or its complications, as well as a potential source of stem cells for preventative and regenerative medicine.
