Bustling construction site of Vung Tau - Binh Chau coastal road

(Dan Tri) - The project to upgrade and expand the coastal road of Ba Ria - Vung Tau is nearly 78km long, designed to expand from 6-8 lanes connecting Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster with Binh Chau.
The existing coastal road (DT 994) connecting Vung Tau City through Binh Thuan was built nearly 20 years ago. In June 2023, the People's Committee of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province started upgrading this coastal road to 6-8 lanes, with a design speed of 80km/h. The project is divided into 11 components, with a total capital of more than 7,000 billion VND and a length of nearly 78km, expanded to 6-8 lanes. This is an important traffic project to promote socio-economic development in the east of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. The project has 3 main sections: from Phu My town about 2.28km, the road through Vung Tau city is 19km long, the middle section through Xuyen Moc district is about 28km long, Long Dien district is about 10km and the final section in Dat Do district is more than 18km long. The route started construction on June 17, 2023 and is expected to be completed in the third quarter of 2025. The first section of the project from Long Son commune (Vung Tau city) to National Highway 51 has been basically completed, and the construction unit has installed signs guiding from Long Son island commune to National Highway 51. Vung Tau - Binh Chau coastal road intersection with National Highway 51. The road section from this intersection to Cua Lap bridge will be newly built with 6 lanes. The expanded route mainly coincides with the existing road centerline, passing through Binh Chau commune (Xuyen Moc district), Loc An commune, Dat Do town (Dat Do district), Long Hai town (Long Dien district), Long Son commune (Vung Tau city) and connecting with the Cai Mep - Thi Vai port system in Tan Hoa commune (Phu My town). In addition to completely rebuilding the intersection of National Highway 51 to Cua Lap Bridge, the project will upgrade the sections from Lo Voi intersection (Long Dien district) to Thuy Duong tourist area (Dat Do district); the section from Long Phu intersection (Phuoc Hai town, Dat Do district) to Song Ray bridge (Xuyen Moc district) will be expanded. The project will also renovate the section from Song Ray bridge to Trung Thuy resort (Xuyen Moc district) and upgrade the road section from Trung Thuy resort to National Highway 55 (bordering Binh Thuan province).
In early September, the construction unit was still busy leveling the roadbed and handling weak soil sections from the intersection of Highway 51 to Cua Lap Bridge.
Despite the difficult rainy season, the construction unit mobilized a large number of modern machinery and equipment to focus on constructing the new opening section of the project in Vung Tau City to speed up the progress of the entire route. At the construction site, workers are urgently carrying out tasks such as: building embankments, dredging organic soil, pumping sand, leveling the ground and treating weak soil. Of which, treating weak soil is the most important in ensuring the quality of the project. Because the newly opened route from the intersection of Highway 51 to Cua Lap Bridge passes through a swampy area, the construction unit had to spend a lot of time treating the weak ground using cement-reinforced soil pillar technology. This technology is not new and has been applied in many projects across the country. After more than a year of construction, the construction unit of the new Cua Lap bridge has completed the main bridge piers. The bridge is expected to be completed in 2025. According to the plan, the Go Gang and Cha Va bridges connecting Vung Tau with Long Son island commune on the route will remain intact. Some bridges such as Song Ray 2, Cua Lap 2, Cay Khe... will be newly built parallel to the existing bridge. The project to build a new Cua Lap 2 bridge connecting Vung Tau city with Long Dien district. This is an important component project to connect the center of Vung Tau city with the eastern coastal centers such as Long Hai, Phuoc Hai, Ho Tram, Ho Coc... The section of the route running through the resort in Binh Chau commune (Xuyen Moc district) has been expanded to 8 lanes with capital from enterprises. When the component projects are completed, the infrastructure will be connected to create an economic corridor connecting Cai Mep - Thi Vai port cluster with Long Thanh airport, Bien Hoa - Vung Tau expressway... serving the development of tourism in the east of the province and the need for inter-provincial freight transport. This is a coastal route that has great significance for the economy and society of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province. It increases the connectivity between the two coastal tourist areas considered the capital of the southern region, Vung Tau and Phan Thiet. Along with that, the project contributes to the completion of the regional traffic infrastructure, making trade more bustling and making it more convenient for people to do business.
