Leading US corporation helps Vietnam train semiconductor human resources

The leading US semiconductor corporation Qorvo will send lecturers and senior experts to help Vietnam train human resources in the field of semiconductor chip design.
On the afternoon of July 16, in Hanoi, the Ministry of Planning and Investment, leaders of the National Innovation Center (NIC) and two American semiconductor corporations, Qorvo Corporation and Cadence Corporation, held the opening ceremony of the microchip design training program and the signing ceremony of a cooperation agreement between NIC and Qorvo Corporation.
The cooperation between NIC and Qorvo Group marks an important step in the development of Vietnam's semiconductor industry.
40 students selected and awarded scholarships to participate in the training program are excellent lecturers and students from the following schools: Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi National University, Military Technical Academy, University of Transport, Academy of Posts and Telecommunications Technology, Academy of Cryptography Engineering, University of Electricity, Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Hanoi University of Industry. The scholarship value is 30 million VND/course. Qorvo provides lecturers and senior experts in the field of microchip design and the group's training program, according to US standards. Meanwhile, Cadence supports all copyrights of microchip design software for the training program. Students will study at NIC Hanoi campus for 3 months. Students who complete the course will be given priority for internship and job opportunities from Qorvo and NIC's leading partner companies in the field of microchip design. Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung commented: "The fact that NIC cooperates with Qorvo Group to organize the opening ceremony today not only marks the beginning of the microchip design training program but also an important step in the journey of Vietnamese people gradually mastering technology in the semiconductor industry". Earlier in the afternoon of the same day, Minister Nguyen Chi Dung received and worked with the Chairman of Qorvo Group. The leaders of the Ministry of Planning and Investment encouraged Qorvo and its partners in the semiconductor industry to continue investing and expanding their business in Vietnam; urged Qorvo to prioritize and increase the use of services and products of enterprises in the supply chain in Vietnam; and suggested that Qorvo research and develop offices and research and development (R&D) centers in Vietnam, especially at NIC facilities.
According to the Global Semiconductor Association (GSA), Qorvo is the world's most influential semiconductor chip company in 2020. To date, the company has more than 8,500 employees globally, with revenue reaching 3.77 billion USD in 2024 (from April 2023 to March 2024).
