The figures achieved by the Vietnamese tourism industry in January 2025 show that, after more than 2 years since Vietnam reopened tourism activities (March 15, 2022), the number of international visitors to Vietnam has recovered positively. In 2024, international visitors to Vietnam will reach about 17.5 million, returning to the 2019 milestone (the period before the COVID-19 pandemic, Vietnam's tourism had the highest growth rate).

According to the Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism, Nguyen Trung Khanh, the results of 2024 were achieved thanks to the attention of the Party, the Government and the Prime Minister in providing orientations and policies to remove difficulties and obstacles for tourism. The synchronous solutions of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, together with the close coordination of ministries, branches and localities, especially the efforts of the tourism business system and the tourism community in promoting tourism; in which, it is necessary to emphasize policies on visas and immigration. At the same time, the innovation, improvement of product quality, services and activities promoting Vietnamese tourism in many key markets and potential markets have had a strong impact on attracting international visitors to Vietnam.

"With the growth rate of tourism in recent times, international recognition, and strong internal movements, we can believe in the resilience of Vietnamese tourism. In the coming time, Vietnamese tourism is always ready to enter a new period of development with new momentum and resilience," said Director Nguyen Trung Khanh.

Vietnam's tourism is facing new opportunities to affirm its position as a key economic sector for the country's socio-economic development, meeting the requirements of the Party, the State and the expectations of the people. In 2025, the Vietnam tourism industry sets an "ambitious" target: welcoming 22 - 23 million international visitors; serving 120 - 130 million domestic visitors, achieving total tourism revenue of about 980 - 1,050 trillion VND, reaching the revenue mark of 100 billion VND. 2025 is expected to be an important milestone, marking the strong return of the tourism industry after major fluctuations.

To achieve the above goals, the Vietnamese tourism industry is oriented to focus on depth, quality, professionalism, sustainability, and brand. Vietnamese tourism will focus on improving service quality; focusing on building increasingly classy products to bring truly unique and impressive experience values to tourists. At the same time, the tourism industry will synchronously deploy specific tasks and solutions stated in Resolution 82/NQ-CP and Directive 08/CT-TTg of the Government and Prime Minister, meeting the requirements in the new context to promote the development of the industry, adapting to conditions in the new development stage. The industry will focus on implementing from innovating tourism promotion methods to proposing mechanisms and policies to facilitate tourism activities... In addition, all solutions are prioritized to promote Vietnam's advantages towards increasing international tourist attraction, improving the effectiveness of tourism activities' contribution to the country's socio-economic development in the new period.

To develop green and sustainable tourism, Director Nguyen Trung Khanh also emphasized two factors: people and technology. In particular, the Vietnamese tourism workforce needs to be trained more thoroughly, from foreign language skills, communication to professional capacity, to meet international standards. At the same time, it is necessary to focus on applying technology to increase tourism value. Because in the trend of technology that is completely changing the way tourists access and experience services, technology is the most optimal tool to help the Vietnamese tourism industry optimize customer experience, from booking tickets via mobile applications, virtual tours of destinations before departure, to cashless payments, feedback, comments, etc.

Currently, Vietnam is assessed to have great potential for tourism development, especially natural resources, scenic spots, historical relics, cultural heritages, especially heritages recognized by UNESCO... Vietnamese tourism units will continue to focus on researching and building unique tourism products, of the scale of the destination to introduce to international friends, actively contributing to promoting the image of the country, while enhancing the value of products and competitiveness of Vietnamese tourism in the region and reaching out to the international market.
