Completed 70% of contract value
In early September 2024, Giao thong Newspaper reporters were present at the construction site of the Day River overpass project connecting Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces and noted that many machines and equipment were gathered at the construction site, and hundreds of technical staff and workers were working hard.

Speaking with Giao Thong Newspaper reporter, Mr. Bui Duc Nguyen, in charge of construction of Nam Dinh bank, representative of the construction contractor, Dat Phuong Group Joint Stock Company, said that according to the contract until December 2024, the construction contractor must complete the project to hand over to the investor.
Regarding the site clearance work, it has been basically completed (currently only the relocation of the 0.4KV power line on the Ninh Binh side remains); the People's Committees of Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces have issued decisions on land allocation for the project.
Determined to bring the project on schedule, the contractor is mobilizing nearly 300 officers, technicians, workers and many modern equipment and machines, working in day and night shifts.

According to Mr. Nguyen, on the handed over site, up to this point the contractor has basically completed the main work, completing 70% of the contract value.
For the bridge section, 100% of bored piles have been completed; 100% of abutments and pier bodies have been completed. 6/8 Super T girder spans have been installed on the Ninh Binh side; 10/15 Super T girder spans on the Nam Dinh side.
As for the road section at both ends of the bridge, on the Ninh Binh side, the main route has completed organic excavation and weak foundation treatment; the section for installing the wick has completed filling with K95 sand and reinforcing; K95 sand and granular materials are being filled behind the abutment of the cement pile section at the bridgehead. The branch roadbed, drainage items, and protective and auxiliary works are under construction.

In Nam Dinh, organic excavation has been completed and weak foundation has been treated. The section for wick placement has been completed, with K95 sand and reinforcing; K95 sand and granular materials are being filled behind the abutment of the cement-soil pile section at the bridgehead. Drainage items and protective and auxiliary works are being constructed.
"We plan to close the Bai Dinh - Kim Son road span in October 2024. Close the main bridge in November 2024 and complete the construction items, handing over to the investor on schedule in December 2024," said Mr. Nguyen.
Strengthening links, creating development momentum
The project to build a bridge over the Day River connecting Nam Dinh province with Ninh Binh province on the Ninh Binh - Nam Dinh - Thai Binh - Hai Phong expressway with a total investment of 1,450 billion VND, has a total length of 2km passing through Khanh Cuong and Khanh Trung communes in Yen Khanh district, Ninh Binh province and 3 communes of Nghia Chau, Nghia Trung and Nghia Thai in Nghia Hung district, Nam Dinh province.

The project has a scale of 4 lanes, a design speed of 100 km/h, including the following items: a river overpass about 1.36 km long with a cross-section of 19.5 m wide; an approach road about 0.64 km long, 19 m wide and branches (section from Km17+300 to Km17+495.5) on the expressway and 2 intersection branches in Ninh Binh province; section from Km18+856 to Km19+300/expressway route and 2 intersection branches, in Nam Dinh province.

On the Ninh Binh side, the bridge connects to Bai Dinh - Kim Son road by 2 branches with a 12m wide roadbed; on the Nam Dinh side, the overpass intersects with National Highway 37B and intersects with Provincial Road 490, connected by 2 branches, with a 8m wide roadbed.
Up to now, 100% of the bridge piers and piers have been completed.
Mr. Dinh Van Phuong, Director of the Nam Dinh Provincial Construction Investment Project Management Board (the project investor), said that the project aims to connect important traffic routes of Ninh Binh and Nam Dinh provinces, gradually completing the Ninh Binh - Hai Phong expressway, enhancing regional and inter-regional connectivity in the Red River Delta region.
At the same time, the project helps reduce the load on the existing traffic system, shortens the distance and travel time for traffic participants, and creates momentum for socio-economic development.
