From October 14-17, 2024, the Vietnam Transport Trade Union received and worked with a delegation of the Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport Trade Union Federation led by Mr. Chankham Bounmixay, Vice President.
At the meeting, Chairman of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union Pham Hoai Phuong emphasized that the traditional relationship between the two countries' transport sectors was built and nurtured during the resistance war years. Tens of thousands of Vietnamese transport experts and youth volunteers have joined Lao officials and people to open many important routes in Laos.
Chairman of the Vietnam Transport Trade Union Pham Hoai Phuong and Vice Chairman of the Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport Trade Union Chankham Bounmixay agreed to increase bilateral exchanges and promote practical and effective cooperation.
In the process of innovation and national construction, the two sides continue to sign and effectively implement agreements such as the memorandum of understanding between the two governments on the Transport Cooperation Strategy for the 2016-2025 period, with a vision to 2030; the air transport agreement, agreements on investment in the construction of the Hanoi - Vientiane expressway, the Vung Ang - Vientiane railway line, etc.
Regarding trade union activities, since 2013, the Vietnam Transport Trade Union and the Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport Trade Union Federation have established bilateral relations through a memorandum of cooperation. With the annual exchange of working delegations, the transport trade unions of the two countries have more information about the movement of workers, civil servants, and laborers and share experiences in trade union activities.

Vice President of the Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport Trade Union Chankham Bounmixay expressed his hope that the two sides would actively exchange and cooperate in the coming time, through trade union activities and the movement of workers and civil servants, making practical and effective contributions to the development of transport in each country as well as the close cooperative relationship and solidarity and friendship between the two countries.
At the meeting, the two sides discussed the organizational structure, labor situation, employment, income of union members and workers; emulation movements, forms of rewards, and women's activities. They also shared the difficulties and experiences in developing the union organization and cooperation plans in the coming time.
During the visit to the Vietnam Transport Trade Union, the delegation of the Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport Trade Union visited and worked with the Southern Maritime Safety Corporation Trade Union.
Vice President of Vietnam Transport Trade Union Quach Xuan Vinh, Vice President of Lao Ministry of Public Works and Transport Trade Union Chankham Bounmixay and delegates visited and worked at the Southern Maritime Safety Assurance Corporation.
The representative of the corporation said that the corporation has a management area from the south of Quang Ngai province to the end of Kien Giang province and the East Sea and Truong Sa areas; operating in the fields of: ensuring maritime safety, piloting, salvage and rescue, maritime mechanics and maritime signaling equipment.
During the process of formation and development, in addition to completing well the main tasks assigned by the State, the leaders of the corporation and the Corporation's Trade Union always coordinate closely to take care of jobs, material and spiritual life of union members and workers.
