Musician and doctor Vu Minh Duc wrote the song Dreaming of Homeland based on the story of singer Nguyen Dinh Tuan Dung - a son who has been away from home for more than 20 years, always missing his family.
Due to circumstances and livelihood, Tuan Dung left his wife and 2 children in Hanoi and went to Ho Chi Minh City to work and earn money. He always wished to bring his family to the South so that the whole family could reunite.
The song is gentle, profound, with rich imagery lyrics describing the artist's lonely moments in the big city.
"I sympathize with the song. Every time I hear the school drum in Ho Chi Minh City, I miss my children. A few times when I go on a long tour, my heart aches for my parents. I accept it because I am the locomotive, I have to pull the cars behind me to the right track," Tuan Dung said.

The MV directed by Tung Phan closely follows the content of the song. In contrast to bustling Saigon, the artist's simple life is depicted through images of an old apartment, a cat, a three-tailed fish, a green potted plant...
The scene of Tuan Dung sitting on the terrace eating instant noodles, the light shining on him casting a shadow on the wall behind him, further highlighting his loneliness and isolation.
Present at the event, singer known as "Sad Girl" Huong Giang shared: "I was overwhelmed with emotion. Vu Minh Duc's music always has great evocative power, just listening to it makes you imagine so many things. And Tuan Dung performed perfectly, completely blending his lyrical voice with the spirit of the song."
Regarding the release of the MV on International Day of Happiness, March 20, musician Vu Minh Duc said: "I want to send the message that happiness is sometimes just a peaceful dream, a dream of seeing the smile of parents - something that when we are busy, we easily forget."
