On the first day of the opening of the exhibition area displaying documents and artifacts about the unnumbered trains at Phu Yen Provincial Museum, veterans and visitors coming here not only saw but also touched the evidence that made up the Ho Chi Minh trail at sea.

On the evening of November 22, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Yen province held the opening ceremony of the thematic exhibition "Vung Ro Wharf and the activities of receiving support from unnumbered ships" at Phu Yen Provincial Museum (Tuy Hoa City). The exhibition period is from November 22 to December 31, 2024.
The exhibition has a total of 92 photos, 35 artifacts, 2 maps, diagrams, 5 excerpts, 5 lists and 7 documents.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hong Thai - Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Phu Yen province - said that this is an activity to honor and remember the contributions of the cadres, soldiers and laborers who led and served Vung Ro wharf in transporting and receiving support from unnumbered ships from the North to the South during the resistance war against the US to save the country.
Propaganda and education on patriotic and revolutionary traditions and the spirit of overcoming difficulties of the army and people of Phu Yen.
"At the same time, this is one of the meaningful activities towards the 60th anniversary of Vung Ro wharf receiving the first shipment of the unnumbered ship," said Ms. Thai.

The artifacts and documents are arranged harmoniously according to a story line from the image of Vung Ro Bay before 1975 or the traces of the unnumbered ship at Vung Ro wharf that we sunk ourselves when the ship was discovered by the enemy, photos taken in 1978...
Many viewers were moved by the old artifacts, rusted over time, such as the kerosene lamp used to signal at Mui Dien lighthouse to welcome unnumbered ships.
Or the boxes containing first aid medicine, sailors' personal belongings, to the antenna given by the sailors of the ship without a number to the soldiers protecting Pham Van Quyet wharf when the ship docked at Vung Ro on December 25, 1964.
Binh Dong captured by Mr. Ngo Van Dinh from the enemy during the battle to protect Vung Ro wharf when the 4th ship entering the wharf was discovered by the enemy, February 1965.
At the exhibition, Hero of the People's Armed Forces, Lieutenant Colonel Ho Dac Thanh - former captain of ship number C41, former deputy chief of staff of Naval Region 3 Command - also presented the souvenirs he kept to the museum.
Like the compass and semicircular ruler that the Navy gave him in 1962, used to measure nautical miles at sea.
"These were tools to determine direction during the transportation of weapons because the conditions at that time were quite primitive. These are souvenirs that I always kept with me on the trains going back and forth between North and South.
I want it to be displayed so that future generations will know about the sacrifices and achievements of our ancestors," said Captain Ho Dac Thanh.
Looking closely at the artifacts, Pham Thi Hong Uyen - a second-year student at Phu Yen University - shared: "Coming here, I listened to the tour guide talk about the unnumbered trains and saw with my own eyes the artifacts I really liked. It felt like I was living in that period!"
Besides admiring the soldiers, I also respect the carefully preserved artifacts such as the flashlight and parachute cord..."
