With Resolution 57, Vietnamese startups are expecting Vietnam to have new policies on the technology business ecosystem, providing more support for high-tech startups.
Vietnam's digital technology industry has made remarkable progress. On the sidelines of the 6th Make in Vietnam forum, VietNamNet reporters had a discussion with Ms. Dang Thi Anh Tuyet, founder of MedCAT startup. This founder shared her perspective on the impact of the Make in Vietnam call on the development of Vietnamese startups.
As a witness and participant of the 6th Make in Vietnam forum, what are your feelings and thoughts about the development of digital technology enterprises since the call to Make in Vietnam?
Ms. Dang Thi Anh Tuyet: Since the Ministry of Information and Communications launched the Make in Vietnam spirit, I have noticed a clear change in the awareness of businesses, that we must make products from Vietnam, serve Vietnam and can even compete globally.
Since then, many new products and technologies have been introduced to the market, made by Vietnamese companies. I think this is a very good result from the effect of the forum.
The proportion of Vietnamese value in total ICT industry revenue is about 32%. The Ministry of Information and Communications aims to increase this ratio to 50% by 2030. From the perspective of a technology worker, how do you think we should solve that problem?
We have a clear strategy, the ministries and branches, in this case the Ministry of Information and Communications, have aroused national pride, aroused creativity, and daring to think and act of Vietnamese enterprises.
We have an increasingly expanding market, and the competitiveness of Vietnamese digital technology enterprises in foreign markets is also increasing.
After having a clear strategy, a correct awareness of the capacity and ability to make Make in Vietnam products... we need to have a few more suitable mechanisms to support businesses. If we do that, I believe the goal is completely achievable.
From a personal perspective, I see that Vietnam’s problem has very specific requirements. We are Vietnamese, so we will understand the needs of our market best.
Recently, many Vietnamese talents abroad want to return to support the development of the country. Young people have a great desire to create products Made in Vietnam.
That is an extremely favorable condition for us to have Made in Vietnam products with increasingly high quality and technology content.
Is the newly issued Resolution 57 on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and digital transformation a breakthrough solution to promote digital technology businesses?
Resolution 57, recently issued by the Politburo, is a great motivation for technology workers. When Resolution 57 is implemented, technology enterprises and creative startups in Vietnam will certainly receive more support.
I really hope that Vietnam will have policies to help build an ecosystem of technology businesses. In addition to the leading birds, the Vietnamese technology ecosystem also needs the surrounding small birds to develop sustainably.
To do that, we need more in-depth support policies for small and medium-sized enterprises, especially startups working in new technology, high technology, and breakthrough factors.
What is called a breakthrough will most likely not have a previous model to compare with. Therefore, we really need support mechanisms to help bring all products and applications into practical use as quickly as possible, thereby quickly receiving reviews from users.
This will further promote businesses that already have good products, ready to put into use.
With favorable policies for science and technology, what do you expect for the development of Vietnamese digital technology enterprises?
I believe that in the coming time, the development of Vietnamese digital technology enterprises will increasingly flourish. Vietnamese people are inherently studious and have the ability to study well in natural sciences.
Understanding the market and understanding customer needs is also increasingly important to us. With a change in awareness and a clear strategic direction, Vietnam will certainly soon achieve its goals.
