Youth Month in the Port City is bustling

Every March, Hai Phong city is bustling with Youth Month activities - activities of Hai Phong youth contributing their youth to the construction and development of the city and the country.

Hai Phong Youth Union cooperates with relevant agencies to organize the Youth Career Day 2024.

According to Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Youth Union, Secretary of the City Youth Union, President of the Hai Phong City Youth Union Vuong Toan Thu Thuy, the city's youth always identify the role of vanguard, volunteering, creativity and arousing pride in the glorious tradition of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union in their activities. And March is always the peak month with many practical activities of the Youth Union at all levels in proactively implementing projects and tasks, contributing to the completion of political tasks, professional tasks and participating in socio-economic development in localities and units. Youth Month 2024 in Hai Phong with the theme "Youth volunteering for community life" is also a practical activity to celebrate the 93rd anniversary of the founding of the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union, welcoming the Congress of Delegates of the Vietnam Youth Union at all levels for the 2024-2029 term. The family of Ms. To Thi Banh - who was in a traffic accident and the family of Mr. To Van Khuong - who is suffering from a serious illness, are both in difficult circumstances in Dong Bai commune (Cat Hai district). The houses of both families are damaged and dilapidated, but they do not have the financial means to renovate or upgrade. Both families were deeply moved when the Hai Phong Youth Union mobilized resources and sponsors to donate funds to support the construction of two Charity Houses with a total cost of 100 million VND in mid-March. Ms. To Thi Banh shared that the care and support of the City Youth Union and sponsors not only helped her family have better living conditions, but also helped her and her family members have more confidence and motivation to overcome difficulties and improve their lives. At Vinh Quang Border Guard Station (Tien Lang District), the Standing Committee of Hai Phong City Youth Union presented 10 gifts to children of officers and soldiers of Tien Lang District who are working at the border and islands; and presented six "Helping Children Go to School" scholarships to children of officers and soldiers at Vinh Quang Border Guard Station with a total value of nearly 130 million VND. This activity not only demonstrates the affection and responsibility of the city's youth towards officers and soldiers who are on duty at the border and islands, but is also a valuable source of encouragement to help officers and soldiers confidently complete their tasks of firmly protecting the sovereignty of the sacred borders and islands of the Fatherland. These are just some of the specific activities among nearly 150 regular and widespread activities of Hai Phong youth volunteering for community life in March with a total value of nearly 7 billion VND. In particular, Hai Phong youth focus on implementing projects and tasks applying new technology, participating in the digital transformation process; volunteering to ensure social security, protect the environment, respond to climate change; implementing youth projects to welcome the Congress of the Vietnam Youth Union at all levels; accompanying young people in starting a business, establishing a career, caring for and educating teenagers and children... On the peak day of Volunteering to build new rural areas and Green Sunday on March 17, more than 1,000 members and young people of Hai Phong simultaneously carried out many meaningful activities such as: giving 200 seedlings worth 20 million VND to Vinh Quang Border Guard Station, planting 50 Taiwanese banyan trees on the "Youth Green Road" in Quang Phuc commune and organizing waste collection and cleaning the sea in Vinh Quang commune (Tien Lang district); together with sponsors, giving gifts to disadvantaged teenagers in An Duong district, total value of 20 million VND; awarding "Solid Future" scholarships for students in 2024, total value of 210 million VND; awarding Great Solidarity houses worth 80 million VND, Red Scarf houses worth 300 million VND; Coordinated with the Ministry of Transport and the Vietnam Maritime Administration to plant 10,000 trees with a total value of 100 million VND in Cat Hai district... Along with that, all levels of the Youth Union in the city have widely communicated to all people about the purpose, meaning and content of Green Sunday; launched a campaign to clean up and improve the environmental landscape; planted and cared for trees, implemented a new rural flower road, implemented the program "For a green Vietnam"; maintained and cared for "Civilized roads", "Bright-green-clean-beautiful roads ensuring security and order", "Youth self-management roads"; implemented models of plastic waste recycling, environmental protection models such as "Swimming buoys, life preservers made from bottles", "Green house to reduce plastic waste"; "Flowering electric poles"; implemented youth projects to protect the environment such as "Plastic waste house"; cleaning the environment, collecting, classifying, and treating waste, cleaning canals, dredging streams, removing advertisements; organizing the care of local memorials and martyrs' cemeteries... At the same time, during Youth Month, Hai Phong City Youth Union organized many meaningful activities to foster and arouse the spirit of volunteering to contribute youth to the community, such as organizing the talk show "Aspiration to contribute - Youth's reason for living" - a practical activity to celebrate the 70th anniversary of Dien Bien Phu Victory (May 7, 1954 - May 7, 2024) and the 70th anniversary of Cat Bi Victory (March 7, 1954 - March 7, 2024); Youth Career Day 2024; admitting outstanding youth into the Youth Union and awarding membership cards to 80 new members; coordinating with the Department of Culture and Sports to organize art programs for young workers in the area; Organizing stage programs and forums to help youth union members participate in real-life situations to recognize and be alert to human trafficking; propagating about cyber security, preventing and combating high-tech crimes; examining, treating, and providing free medicine to people in difficult circumstances, families with meritorious services... Secretary of Hai Phong City Youth Union Vuong Toan Thu Thuy shared that not only were the activities carried out enthusiastically in March with many meanings, the activities of Hai Phong youth union members also continued to be widely and continuously maintained as a positive effort of the youth to contribute to the strong and sustainable development of the port city and the country.
