On the afternoon of January 30, thousands of people and tourists flocked to both banks of the Ca Ty River to watch hundreds of athletes compete in a boat race to welcome the new year.
On the afternoon of January 30 (the 2nd day of Tet), on Ca Ty River, Phan Thiet City (Binh Thuan Province) held a traditional boat racing festival to welcome the Spring of At Ty 2025.
According to tradition, every afternoon of the second day of Tet, the Ca Ty River is filled with waves because of a boat race that gathers many competing teams.
The competition attracts thousands of locals and tourists to watch the boat race and cheer on the boat teams.
According to the Organizing Committee, this year's tournament attracted the participation of 270 athletes from 9 teams of communes and wards in Phan Thiet.
The sport of rowing originated from the daily life of fishermen in Phan Thiet. The athletes participating are all fishermen who make a living by fishing in Phan Thiet city.
With its unique appeal, the annual traditional boat racing festival has also contributed to promoting the physical education and sports movement. At the same time, it effectively promotes Binh Thuan tourism to domestic and foreign tourists.
After the opening ceremony, the athletes competed in rowing, with many different events and distances.
In the cool weather of the first days of the year, receiving encouragement from the shore and the river, the athletes competed fiercely, with many exciting accelerations that delighted locals and foreign tourists.
At the end of the event, the Organizing Committee awarded prizes to the outstanding teams and athletes. Phu Tai Ward team won first prize in the boat racing at two distances: 500m and 1,200m.
